Dermalogica Double Cleanse

So, in my previous post, I created a Halloween makeup look. Now, I’m going to talk about makeup removal. This goes for any kind of makeup. As you know, most Halloween makeup can go overboard, so I thought I’d share my experience using Dermalogica Double Cleanse to remove my Halloween makeup look.

Read more about it below.

As you know, I’m a big fan of double cleansing and cleansing oils/balms. So, I’m super excited when I found out that Dermalogica released their Double Cleanse products.

What is double cleansing?

Double cleansing is when you wash your face TWICE with different cleansers. Why is this important? For me, personally, I learned that my pores gets easily clogged, since the first cleanse doesn’t always remove the dirt & impurities fully.

I always pay extra attention to cleansing my face due to this clogged pore issue. I found that cleansing oil helps break down makeup products really well (oil breaks down oil). So, that’s why the FIRST cleanse is always an oil or balm cleanser, and Dermalogica Pre-cleanse balm is the perfect product for this. Don’t let the word “oil” or “balm” makes you worry. It will NOT clogged your pores. The cleansing oil actually emulsifies and lathers up into a soap.

I love how Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse balm comes with a silicone face brush. I usually apply my balm/oil using my finger and work it into my skin. However, the silicone face brush actually helps to get that balm into the pores and remove all the makeup off. Apply this balm on a dry skin first. Once that balm has been worked into the skin, you can work the balm into a lather by applying a a splash of water. Rinse off the water afterwards.

Now that your face is makeup free after the cleansing oil, you’d want to wash your face again with a SECOND cleanser. For me, this usually is a gel cleanser. The Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel is the right product for this. I love how it removes the rest of the impurities and dirt, yet it’s gentle enough on my skin. It does not leave my skin feeling dry or tight.

After your double cleansing routine, go ahead and apply the rest of your skincare.
