Sleek Makeup Candy Palette

My Sleek Makeup Candy Palette is back in my hands again! I accidentally left it back in Jakarta last year, and my brother brought it back to Canada for me! Woohooo!!! So happy to have this Sleek Makeup Candy palette back to create many colorful looks.

So the inspiration behind this colorful look is actually a “Batik” top (worn in pictures below) I received yesterday from Sofia via my brother. My friend, Sofia from @Sophie_Tobelly, is an amazing fashion designer, and she actually created this top and sold it in her store. A big THANK YOU and shout out to Sofia!!! You guys should really check her out on Instagram (IG)! She also sent down a clutch she created, I posted it on my IG account so please do check it out and follow me on IG!

The top has several different colors like red, purple, white, and blue. I was going to use the blue from the palette, but it ended up being too chalky, so I changed it to green instead. I do love the end result, it almost has a watercolor feel to it. Should you decide to replicate this look, please do tag me on IG or add #kireimakeup.

UD Vice 3 – Joker Inspired Look

I’ve been realizing that lately most of my tutorials used neutral, earthy colors. Today, I decided to use some colors, so I pulled out my UD Vice 3 palette, and here we are! For some reason, I thought of “Joker”, probably because I’ve been bombarded with Suicide Squad news on my fb feeds. So, I combined purple and green to make a wearable Joker inspired look.

Again, I’m featuring Tweezerman tools today. I just want to point out the Tweezerman ProMaster eyelash curler that I used for this look is pretty great for those who have almond/deep-set eyes, or those with monolids. For more info regarding this curler, please check out my Instagram, I posted a picture and some info over there. I also posted a video on Instagram on how I used ABH brow pomade and Tweezerman Brow brush to fill my brows.

MAC D for Danger

I have a new favorite lip color! MAC D for Danger lipstick is a gorgeous berry shade with a matte finish. I love it! I have been looking for a berry lip color for a while now, but usually it’s too purple, so I’m very excited when I found this shade. D for Danger is a permanent lipstick shade at MAC. I recently found it when I was browsing their Retro Matte collection.

Anyways, I paired UD Naked Smoky with this berry lips. I went with a winged liner, and bronze on the lids. Nothing too dark on the crease since I want the focus to be on the winged liner itself. This look is quite heavy on both eyes and lips, but I don’t quite mind it. I think this will look nice for a party. For a day look, I probably will leave the eyes bare, just mascara and groomed brows, leaving the lips to be the focus of the attention.

I have done a smoky eye look using UD Naked Smoky in my previous tutorial, please check it out!

Big Dolly Eye Makeup Tutorial

Today’s Big Dolly Eye Makeup tutorial is for those who’d like to make their eyes look enlarged and more doll-like! I think this type of makeup look is very popular in Asia, and I know personally in my home country, Indonesia, girls love this kind of look since it makes their eyes look bigger. For me, this look is already pretty heavy, and I would not wear this out for a day makeup. I’ll probably wear it if I go to party, but again, it’s up to your preference.

The key to this look is heavy eyeliner and lots of lashes. I could have done something a bit more extreme, and made it look even bigger, but I also wanted to make the look more wearable. If you want to make your eyes even bigger and more doll-like, feel free to substitute the black eyeliner on the waterline with a beige or white eyeliner. If you have monolids, you can use eyelid tape/glue/fiber to create a fold, it’ll help to open up the eyes more and make it look bigger.

Also, add more lashes, you can stack 2 lashes on the upper lashes and a bottom falsies. I don’t have bottom falsies, so I didn’t put any. The falsies I’m using is already thick and long, so I didn’t stack my falsies.

dior eye reviver tutorialI used my Dior Eye Reviver palette for this tutorial. I’ve used this palette on my other tutorial, so if you’d like to see the shades that correspond with the number I listed below, please check out my Summer Wedding Guest Makeup Tutorial post. I have a picture of the palette there with the shades’ numbers.

Summer Wedding Guest Makeup

Summer is the season for Wedding, and this Summer Wedding Guest Makeup look would be perfect for those beautiful outdoor wedding parties! It’s flirty and summery! I love coral lips for summer, it’s very youthful and less intimidating than red or orange lips. A fun look to wear! If you want to wear this as a daily makeup, just skip the falsies. This makeup is wearable and will look great on everyone.

The lip color for this look is the YSL Rouge Pur Couture 52, also known as Rosy Coral. This lipstick is popular in Asia, it was sold out everywhere in Indonesia! Apparently it was made popular by a Korean actress. Anyways, I can see why Asian women are obsessing over this lip color. You can wear it as a stain, or full on like me. The one thing with this lipstick I disliked is the fact that it’s quite drying on the lips. I have very dry lips, so I have to apply lip balm before and after I apply the lipstick.

Dior Eye Reviver palette

Also, I just grabbed the Dior Eye Reviver palette, and this is the first time I’m using it. I really like this palette, it has soft wearable shades. It’s so easy to blend and buttery. Not as heavily pigmented as some other brands, but gorgeous shades. It is too pretty to be passed on.

Taylor Swift Bad Blood Makeup (Inspired)

Today’s tutorial is Taylor Swift Bad Blood makeup from her music video. Her costars and herself have such great makeup on the videos, it was hard to pick. However, I decided to choose this look where she has a smoky cat eye with red lipstick. I think she looks drop dead gorgeous!

At first, I wasn’t planning to do this look, but oh well why not, right?! For the lips, I chose MAC Viva Glam I lipstick, since I thought it looked dark enough. However, when editing the pictures, I just realized the lips looked pretty bright. I can assure you it’s not that bright in real life. Nevertheless, if you prefer a darker lips, MAC Diva lipstick would do just great. I should have used MAC Diva, but it’s in one of the unpacked boxes. Ah, the joy of moving right? Anyways, hopefully I’ll be able to unpack everything by next week!

taylor swift bad blood makeup

For this look, most of the products on the eyes are from Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye palette, but you can use any matte eyeshadow. You can skip the second step – putting a dark grey eyeshadow on the lash line. I did that part because I thought I was going to do a classic smoky eye, but then decided to do the cat eye after.

For the cat eye part, since I have hooded eyelid on my right eye (left in picture), I’ve to extend the inner corner area a bit more. The cat eye is shaped using a black matte eyeshadow and an angled eyeliner brush.

Summer Makeup – Mint Eyeliner

As the weather is getting warmer, I wanted a lighter, and more colorful Summer makeup. I think I still haven’t had enough of mint makeup. I know the reign of mint color is over, but I couldn’t stay away from it! There’s just something about this color that’s so refreshing. So I decided to create a mint eyeliner look.

You can change the mint liner to any color you want, I think turquoise and yellow would be a great alternative for something bright. I chose to use Stila Smudge stick liner since it gives me the color pay-off I was looking for. I did tried their mint liquid liner, but it wasn’t good at all. I also set the eyeliner using a light green eyeshadow to prevent smudging – this is not necessary unless you have oily lids, just to be safe. Setting the eyeliner with powder will make it smudge-proof especially in warmer weather.

I paired this mint eyeliner with a pink lips, but you don’t have to pair it with this lips. I would pair this with a peachy lips for an alternative. I just paired it with pink lips just because I wanted to use my new lipstick. I kept everything else very simple. No falsies with this look since I don’t want it to look too glam.

Yaz Red Lipstick & Midnight Blue Liner

As mentioned in my Yaz Bukey for Shu Uemura post, I purchased Yaz Red lipstick during the event. I wanted to give it a try, so I decided to pair the red lipstick with this navy blue eyeliner. During the making of this tutorial, my eyes were so watery for no reason on the outer corner, and I couldn’t stop it even after wasting so much q-tips. I think my eyes were dry. Anyways, for that reason, you’ll see a bit of a mess on the bottom outer-corner part of my eye in the step-by-step picture.

For the eyeliner, I used the eyeshadow called Midnight from my Smashbox Double Exposure palette. I used the eyeshadow wet to create an intense and cleaner line. Talking about eyeliner, I posted a quick video on my Instagram on how I create my winged liner using liquid liner, so check it out! If you prefer a pictorial, I have 2 posts – Winged Liner tutorial (using Kat Von D Trooper liner) and How-to (gel/cream) winged liner (using brush and cream liner).

I’ve done other tutorials using Smashbox Double Exposure palette – Valentine’s Day makeup and Look #2.

Yellow Eye Makeup Tutorial

Spring is almost here, may be? I was expecting a bright sunny week, but it’s Canada! What did I see outside couple days a go? SNOW! It was snowing, and cloudy. To cheer myself up, I decided to create this yellow eye makeup tutorial. I wanted something bright, but wearable at the same time. I also wanted to try a few new products and technique, so today’s tutorial is a bit more full on – cream + powder contour: checked, shimmer highlight: checked!

If you guys want to know more about this new technique I learnt, go over to youtube and look for Gossmakeupartist’s Buffing Technique video (if Wayne is looking at this HIIIIII!!!). Anyways, he had a video prior talking how he came about this technique, and since I’m curious, I decided to give it a try. What do you guys think? I think my skin looks pretty amazing, despite the fact that I put on quite a bit of contour and highlight products. I like how it still looks like my skin is showing through underneath, doesn’t look heavy and cakey at all.

Anyways, all products used listed below! Absolutely love how this tutorial turned out. Super simple, easy and very wearable.

1note: On my waterline, I used Matt Maloy eyeshadow because I left my white pencil liner in Jakarta. Anyways, since it’s a pressed eyeshadow, all I did was pressing it on my waterline with a small angled eyeliner brush. You can apply white eyeliner instead, if you’re not used to applying powder eyeshadow on the waterline.

Holiday Party Makeup #4 – Glitter Liner Tutorial

Almost NEW YEAR! I wish everyone a great year ahead! 2014 was fun, it was a bit rocky for me, but nevertheless a good year. 2014 has passed, and here to a great 2015! Hopefully in 2015 everything will go even better! I cannot wait to start 2015, and I have a feeling it’ll be an awesome year! Anyways, since the New Year is almost here, this is my last post of 2014 – a glitter liner tutorial. Last year, for NYE, I did a silver smoky makeup, this time I opted for more glitter!

I wanted to do a slightly more silver glitter, but couldn’t find any, so I decided to do this neon green glitter. Keep in mind that some glitters are not meant for the eye area! The one that I used for this tutorial actually is NOT for the eye area. I decided to use it because I know it won’t irritate my eyes. If you are not sure whether to use glitter or not, please consult the makeup artist/sales person who’s selling you the glitter. Also please be careful if you’re wearing contacts and using glitter on your eyes!

As I said in my previous post, I will not be posting the step-by-step instruction, instead you’ll get the usual photos and product list only. This is a scheduled post, so for any questions, go to my Instagram if you need a quick response.

For the glitter, I applied it onto my eyes using a wet angled eyeliner brush. However, if you can find a mixing medium (e.g. MAC), that’d probably be better since I found that when the water evaporated from the glitter, it became apparent that the glitter started to fall all over my lashes and then to my face.

Another tip when using glitter and it falls on your face, use a tape to pick it up – just press it lightly to your face and it’ll pick up all the fallen glitters. If you have no tape around, use a CLEAN SPOOLY (aka mascara wand) to get rid of the glitter – just brush it in places where the glitter has fallen, use the tip of the wand if it is a stubborn one.

glitter new year makeup tutorialPlease check out my how-to winged eyeliner tutorial if you need help. I also have another glitter eyeliner tutorial that’s slightly easier and simpler.

If you prefer a full on glitter makeup, please check out my Christmas inspired makeup, and last year’s gold glitter makeup tutorial.
