Daytime Brown Smoky Eyes ft. UD Naked Smoky

https://youtu.be/6M0F1mgnLug

Today’s Daytime Brown Smoky Eyes makeup tutorial is a requested look by a good friend of mine, and she wanted me to create a look based on the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette. So, I created this easy to follow brown smoky eyes tutorial for her. This look is simple and very wearable during the day. If you prefer to wear this for a daytime makeup, you can skip the falsies. If you want to wear this for a night look, you can make the smoky eyes even darker by applying Black Market on the outer V and crease.

Party Makeup using UD Naked 3

I’ve realized that there’re a lot of people who land in my blog looking for an UD Naked 3 tutorial. So, here’s my Party Makeup look using UD Naked 3. This look is not too smoky, but if you’re looking for a smoky using this palette, you can check out my UD Naked 3 smoky eyes video tutorial, and other UD Naked 3 tutorials. I’ve also done an UD Naked 3 review, so if you’re thinking of buying this palette for yourself or as a gift, do read the review first.

I’m using a new camera for this tutorial, and I’m not sure how this pictorial looks on your screen, I hope you can see the colors as I see it on my screen. It’s a very nice mauve shade, and it looks very feminine and soft.

Anyways, for my face, I used a new foundation I recently bought. I think I’m really liking this foundation, it’s the Chanel Perfection Velvet Lumiere. Anyways, will have a line up of reviews coming up soon. I’m trying to push all the makeup tutorials first since it’s almost Christmas and New Year, so reviews will be up in January probably.

One thing regarding this tutorial is that I only used 1 brush, which is the brush that came with the palette. All I did to keep the brush clean between application is to run it through a black stippling sponge (similar to the Vera Mona Color Switch).

UD Vice 4 Review & Swatches

I posted a picture of this UD Vice 4 palette last month on my Instagram, but didn’t get the chance to post it on the blog nor to swatch this palette. So, today I decided to post this UD Vice 4 Review & Swatches. I’ve posted a tutorial using this vice 4 palette on my previous post, please check it out! I’ll be posting more tutorials using this palette in the near future.

YES THIS PALETTE IS LIMITED EDITION! So, if you want it you better get it before it’s gone! Actually at this moment when I’m writing this post, this palette is already out of stock in Sephora. I was lucky to have bought it right when it was released in Sephora’s website, along with my KVD Mi Vida Loca Remix palette.

ud vice 4 review

What is UD Vice 4?
“A limited-edition palette packed with 20 gorgeous, never-before-seen shades, a huge mirror, a double-ended brush, and a chic bag.

These shades are filled with rich, deep jewel tones in a wide range of finishes—from velvety-smooth mattes and shimmering metallics to shades infused with micro-glitter. Each Eyeshadow in Vice4 is formulated with Urban Decay’s own Pigment Infusion System™, a proprietary blend of ingredients that deliver rich, velvety, blendable color that lasts and sparkle that stays in place.”

Sephora, 2015

First Impression

Gorgeous palette, with beautiful shades. You get some colorful shades, you get neutral ones, some with sparkles, some are matte. The packaging is breathtaking, I absolutely in love with the cover. Very pretty! The eyeshadows are very vibrant in color, very pigmented. Knowing how the UD palettes are, I expected these shadows to be smooth and blendable, and they are!

Shades

There are 20 shades in this palette, and I categorize them according to their rows (across from L-R). The first row seems to be where the “Party” shades with all the pearls and glitters. The second row is the “Reds”, most of the shadows on this row has a red/pinky undertone. The third row is the “Greens” since the majority of the shades on this row is green, while the other 2 is more on the taupe-brown shade. The fourth row is the “Orange” since the shades on this row is very warm. I find that this palette doesn’t really have a pattern, but oh well going across makes more sense than going down the column.

  • First row
    • Bones (oyster satin with pearl)
    • Grip (taupe matte with iridescent micro-glitter)
    • Deadbeat (black satin with micro-glitter)
    • Beat Down (deep metallic violet with blue micro-glitter)
    • Pandemonium (no description from Sephora, so my description of this shade is deep plum with micro-glitter)
  • Second row
    • Framed (light neutral matte-satin)
    • Fast-ball (metallic peachy pink with micro-glitter)
    • 1985 (metallic fuchsia with fuchsia micro-glitter)
    • Underhand (burgundy-brown satin)
    • Harlot (metallic lavender)
  • Third row
    • Discreet (soft dusty mauve matte)
    • Grasshopper (metallic emerald w/green micro-glitter)
    • C-Note (frosted green with micro-glitter)
    • Arctic (bright teal with tonal sparkle)
    • Robbery (deep metallic brown-gunmetal)
  • Fourth row
    • Bitter (reddish brown matte)
    • Flame (bright orange with gold micro-glitter)
    • Low (brown matte with iridescent micro-glitter)
    • Crowbar (black with golden metallic pearl/micro-glitter)
    • Delete (deep chestnut brown matte-satin)

ud vice 4 swatchesPros

  • 20 shades x 0.6 oz
  • Variety of shades and textures

  • Buttery and smooth
  • Long lasting
  • $70 for 20 shades, which come down to $3-ish/shade
  • Can be used wet to create an even more intense shine

  • Some shades have a lot of fallout, esp. the ones with sparkles!

UD Vice 4 Tutorial #1

I finally have the chance to play with my UD Vice 4 palette! This UD Vice 4 tutorial is fun, and has a little bit of color. It’s a really fun look to wear especially for a party. Of course you can skip the black winged liner, and go for just a simple line along the upper lash line.

For the rest of the face, keep it simple and light. No over-contouring, no carved brows, and definitely nice soft natural lips. By keeping the rest of the face simple, you can keep the whole look youthful. Take it easy on the contouring and brows if you want to look younger. Thicker brows & rounder cheeks can make you look younger than chiseled cheekbones & overdrawn brows.

Anyways, one thing to note is that I applied “Flame” on my eyelid dry, and then I wet my brush and re-apply the same shade on the center of the lid. As you can see from the picture below, when I applied “Flame” dry it has a shimmer, but when I applied it wet it looks more shiny.

UD Naked Smoky “Brown Smoky Eyes”

HAPPY  (Canadian) THANKSGIVING! I promised one last post before the end of the week and here we go! I wanted to use my UD Naked Smoky palette again, since I felt that I haven’t used it enough. I created a matte brown smoky eyes look, which is simple and easy. A brown smoky eyes is softer than black, and it’s also easier for beginners. So, if you haven’t try a brown smoky eyes yet, you should! Skip the falsies and winged liner for a more casual look.

Please check out my UD Naked Smoky review, and other tutorials!

UD Vice 3 – Joker Inspired Look

I’ve been realizing that lately most of my tutorials used neutral, earthy colors. Today, I decided to use some colors, so I pulled out my UD Vice 3 palette, and here we are! For some reason, I thought of “Joker”, probably because I’ve been bombarded with Suicide Squad news on my fb feeds. So, I combined purple and green to make a wearable Joker inspired look.

Again, I’m featuring Tweezerman tools today. I just want to point out the Tweezerman ProMaster eyelash curler that I used for this look is pretty great for those who have almond/deep-set eyes, or those with monolids. For more info regarding this curler, please check out my Instagram, I posted a picture and some info over there. I also posted a video on Instagram on how I used ABH brow pomade and Tweezerman Brow brush to fill my brows.
