Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsune Look #3

Another day, another look using Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsune Holiday collection 2015! I’ve done 2 smoky eyes using Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsune Indigo palette (Grey Smoky & Blue Smoky), and this will be my third look. I’ll try to do a review and swatches of the Indigo palette next week.

For this look, I wanted to create a simple soft smoky liner makeup, which is an alternative way to glam up your party makeup. If you are not comfortable doing smoky eyes, give this look a try. For the rest of my face, everything is simple, no contouring. Most of the products used are Shu Uemura products, which I’ve been loving lately. It’s a really great line, especially for Oriental skin. Anyways, please scroll down for more pictures and product details.

Shu Uemura Lightbulb Foundation Review

As the weather gets colder and my skin gets drier, I’ve been craving for a more luminous dewy skin. For this reason, I’ve recently picked up the Shu Uemura Lightbulb Foundation, and used it on myself for couple days. As you know, I was picked as one of the winners for the Shu Uemura Haute Street Style Instagram competition, and one of the products that they gave me was this foundation. However, just to be clear, even though I received the foundation for free, my review is based on my experience and honest opinion.

Picture courtesy of Shu Uemura Canada

First of all, I did not use the Shu Uemura lightbulb foundation sponge because I didn’t have one. Instead, I used a damped sponge to apply this on my face. Secondly, this foundation is shade 754, which is Medium Beige. It’s a pretty good match for my skin, which is an in-between MAC NC25-30, or Diorskin Star foundation 030, or MUFE HD Foundation 120 (now called Y245).

If you are not familiar with the Shu Uemura foundation shades, it comes with 3 digits, the first digit represents the skin undertone, and it is either a 3, 5 or 7 (and sometimes 9). 3 is for Pink undertone, 5 for Neutral undertone, and 7 for Yellow undertone (and 9 is very yellow).

Packaging

The Shu Uemura Lightbulb foundation comes in a gorgeous glass bottle. Even though it’s glass, the bottle is very lightweight and transparent. The bottle also comes with a pump, and 1 pump can cover the whole face!

Application

If you want to do just 1 pump of foundation to cover your whole face, my advice is to do it the way I do it:

  1. Squeeze 1 pump at the back of hand or clean palette.
  2. Pick a bit of foundation using your ring finger.
  3. Dot it on your face, and blend it using a damped sponge.

You can apply the Shu Uemura Lightbulbfoundation using your finger, or foundation brush. However, if you want that luminous finish, I really suggest applying the foundation using a damped sponge (lightbulb sponge/beauty blender/any non-latex sponge).

Longevity

If you do not set this foundation and have combination/oily skin, this foundation might not last long. You need to set the foundation with a translucent powder, or if you prefer to keep the luminous finish check out the Shu Uemura Lightbulb Glowing Face Powder. For this review I did not set my foundation.

If you don’t set your foundation and has combination/oily skin, this foundation will last may be around 4-5 hours. It’s quite slippery, and within an hour you will look like an oil slick if you don’t set it. If you set the foundation, it’s good for 7-8 hours.

Shade/Finish/Coverage

13 shades ranging from light to medium shades, with pink, neutral and yellow undertones. The finish is luminous, with full coverage.

The Shu Uemura Lightbulb foundation has a full coverage, but it feels very lightweight on the skin. Its luminous dewy finish makes my skin looks quite like skin. I really like this dewy finish especially for winter when my skin is looking a bit dry.

Price

CAD$66 for 0.9 fl.oz./27 mL.

Maison Kitsune for Shu Uemura Smoky Eyes

Another look using Maison Kitsune for Shu Uemura Indigo eye/cheek palette! This time, I really wanted to showcase the gorgeous blue eyeshadow fron the palette, so I created this blue smoky eyes look! This look is super easy to recreate, and it’s a really fresh take on a non-black smoky eyes. The only product that is black is my mascara, even my eyeliner is blue (surprise, surprise..lol).

We’ve all seen black smoky eyes, brown smoky eyes, grey smoky eyes, well why not an all blue smoky eyes? This blue smoky eyes will bring out those with brown, or green, or grey eyes! I love how the blue shadow from the palette looks almost jewel like. It’s not too dark, yet still have a rich deep blue hue.

For the lashes, I decided to apply the Maison Kitsune Jewel-Fur-for-a Wink falsies since I thought it was going to add a bit of fun to the whole look. Very extravagant, perfect for Holiday party makeup! Of course, you can skip this special falsies and wear the regular ones, but I think this falsies are amazing! Also, if you want to know what else I’ve bought from this collection, check out my Instagram account!

UD Vice 4 Tutorial #1

I finally have the chance to play with my UD Vice 4 palette! This UD Vice 4 tutorial is fun, and has a little bit of color. It’s a really fun look to wear especially for a party. Of course you can skip the black winged liner, and go for just a simple line along the upper lash line.

For the rest of the face, keep it simple and light. No over-contouring, no carved brows, and definitely nice soft natural lips. By keeping the rest of the face simple, you can keep the whole look youthful. Take it easy on the contouring and brows if you want to look younger. Thicker brows & rounder cheeks can make you look younger than chiseled cheekbones & overdrawn brows.

Anyways, one thing to note is that I applied “Flame” on my eyelid dry, and then I wet my brush and re-apply the same shade on the center of the lid. As you can see from the picture below, when I applied “Flame” dry it has a shimmer, but when I applied it wet it looks more shiny.

Shu Uemura Maison Kitsune Indigo Palette

Now that Halloween is over, it’s time for the Holiday looks! I recently bought Shu Uemura Maison Kitsue Indigo palette, which is part of Shu Uemura’s 2015 Holiday collection, and this palette shall opens my Holiday looks for 2015! I bought several other products from the collection, but for today I’ll only use the palette. The Shu Uemura Maison Kitsune Holiday 2015 Collection consists of amazing products, and you guys should really check it out! The palettes are limited edition, so grab them before they’re sold out!

For today’s look, I decided to do a cat-eye smoky look. This look is great for monolids or hooded lids. If you have hooded lids, open your eyes when you’re applying the outer V shade (the Indigo). You need to apply this shade just slightly above the hooded part so that when your eyes are open, you can still see the color.

Shu Uemura Sheer Shine Lipsticks

Last month, I was chosen to be one of the 20 beauty bloggers to try out Shu Uemura Sheer Shine lipsticks! I was thrilled to receive 3 of the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Sheer Shine lipsticks at my door step. I’m sure you all have seen these 3 gorgeous lipsticks on my Instagram. I absolutely love these lipsticks!

Shu Uemura Sheer Shine lipsticks

So, the 3 shades that I received are RD 164 (red), PK 366 (pink), CR 350 (peach). I can’t really pick a favorite because I love them all equally! They are very vibrant, and you can layer it. If you are not used to wearing bright colored lipsticks, you should definitely give this a try. This way, you can apply it sheer at first then build it to a more opaque finish once you get used to the color, especially if you want to try the red lipstick.

The best part, for me, is the fact that these Sheer Shine lipsticks are very moisturizing, and it has a “glass-like” finish, similar to a gloss but without the stickiness. Actually the shine on these lipsticks are amazing! It’s definitely better than a gloss! If you apply the Sheer Shine lipsticks with a lip brush (I recommend the Shu Uemura lip brush), you can actually create a stain on your lips.

These lipsticks are very pigmented, don’t let the name “Sheer” fools you! So vibrant, high shine and very colorful! On top of that, this product is just like butter. Very smooth and you can apply this very easily to the lips.

UD Naked Smoky “Brown Smoky Eyes”

HAPPY  (Canadian) THANKSGIVING! I promised one last post before the end of the week and here we go! I wanted to use my UD Naked Smoky palette again, since I felt that I haven’t used it enough. I created a matte brown smoky eyes look, which is simple and easy. A brown smoky eyes is softer than black, and it’s also easier for beginners. So, if you haven’t try a brown smoky eyes yet, you should! Skip the falsies and winged liner for a more casual look.

ABH Shadow Couture World Traveler Tutorial #2

I hope everyone is having a great week! Today I’m going to do another ABH Shadow Couture World Traveler tutorial! I’ve been doing lots of colorful look, so this time around, I wanted to do a more neutral color with a little bit of purple. I have used this palette to do another look, which you can find in my ABH Shadow Couture World Traveler tutorial #1.

Anyways, I have family members over this whole week till next week, so I do apologize if I’m running low on blog posts since I’ve been busy and running around. I do want to line up several Halloween tutorials, so hopefully I’ll be able to post it next week. I’ll try to do a post at least 1 more before the Thanksgiving (Canada) weekend.

Anyhow, for this look, I wanted to do a little bit of a cut crease and reversed winged liner. I cleaned the line up in between the purple liner and the outer corner of the upper lid using MAC Chromagraphic eyeliner in NC30. You can use any beige eyeliner, or white. I don’t really like using white pencil since I thin it’s too stark, the beige liner looks more natural.

Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Tutorial #2

Last week, I did KVD Mi Vida Loca Remix swatches, as well as a tutorial using the greens and blues. This time, I decided to do another Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix tutorial using the warmer shades! Have you guys grab this palette yet? If you haven’t take a look at my swatches’ post! I can assure you, you’ll love this palette! The colors are amazing, and I can’t rave enough about it. If you are a not a fan of colors, take a look at KVD Shade + Light eye palette, perhaps something more neutrals will suit your needs.

Since the eyes are very colorful, I have to pull the eye look together with black eyeliner. I don’t use white or beige on the waterline since it can look too clown-ish, in my opinion. I really like the contrast between the black and the colors, it makes it more wearable. It’s a very festive look, perhaps would be great for Carnivals!

Kat Von D Ink Liner Dali & Neruda

I recently bought the Kat Von D Ink Liner Dali & Neruda from Sephora, and I love the teal (Dali)! Obviously, you can’t go wrong with the white (Neruda), but this teal color is really pretty, yes? I have been holding this post back for a week since Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix palette was stealing the spotlight. However, if you are not a fan of colorful eyeshadow, but still want to add colors into your makeup, this is one way of doing it – with liners! Nevertheless, don’t forget to check out my Kat Von D mi Vida Loca Remix look #1 for some colorful inspiration.

Anyways, I decided to do a color block liner with Dali and Neruda, just because I think it’s pretty fun. The last bit of Summer is almost over, so I decided to bring in more colors into my makeup before we transition into Fall. Would you still wear color in the Fall season? Let me know by commenting below!

For the rest of the eyes, I only apply very light shadows from my Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye contour palette. You can skip it altogether, I just apply it to add a little bit of shade to my eyes. You can barely see it on the pictorial, but it does make a little bit of difference for me.
