KVD Mi Vida Loca Remix Tutorial #1

As mentioned in my previous post, I do have a KVD Mi Vida Loca Remix tutorial! I used mostly the greens and blues from that palette for this look. If you are interested in seeing swatches and my thoughts on it, please check out my Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix palette swatches. I am loving this palette, I think I’ll try to do more looks with this palette in the future.

I do have 2 other posts lining up to be published, but since this palette was highly anticipated, I’ve decided to publish this look first. I’m going to try to publish the other 2 posts next week, so don’t forget to subscribe to my blog (subscription box is on the right side bar) so you can get an update as soon as I publish it! I’ll try to get back into regular blogging – 3x/week again.

Sleek Makeup Candy Palette

My Sleek Makeup Candy Palette is back in my hands again! I accidentally left it back in Jakarta last year, and my brother brought it back to Canada for me! Woohooo!!! So happy to have this Sleek Makeup Candy palette back to create many colorful looks.

So the inspiration behind this colorful look is actually a “Batik” top (worn in pictures below) I received yesterday from Sofia via my brother. My friend, Sofia from @Sophie_Tobelly, is an amazing fashion designer, and she actually created this top and sold it in her store. A big THANK YOU and shout out to Sofia!!! You guys should really check her out on Instagram (IG)! She also sent down a clutch she created, I posted it on my IG account so please do check it out and follow me on IG!

The top has several different colors like red, purple, white, and blue. I was going to use the blue from the palette, but it ended up being too chalky, so I changed it to green instead. I do love the end result, it almost has a watercolor feel to it. Should you decide to replicate this look, please do tag me on IG or add #kireimakeup.

World Cup 2014 Brazil Inspired Makeup

Are you guys following FIFA World Cup 2014?! I sure did, and I’m rooting for Brazil! Go Brazil!!! Anyways, since I’m showing my support for Brazil, I decided to do this Brazil Inspired Makeup. I’d probably do a World Cup inspired makeup series for the next couple weeks just for fun! I wanted to post this tomorrow, but decided to do it today.

Anyhow, for this Brazil Inspired Makeup tutorial, I wanted to create a wearable look that uses the colors of the team’s jersey – mainly yellow, a little bit of green and blue (as you can see from the jersey that I wore for today’s tutorial). I love the result, and I especially love that blue eyeliner! If you do re-create this look please TAG ME on twitter or instagram, and hashtag your work with #kireimakeup.

Since the eyes are so bright and bold, I decided to tone it down on my face. My face is kept very minimal, no contouring. My lips, I decided to go with a nude lip, with my new favorite lip pencil, MAC Spice. Since my lips were quite dry, I added Clinique Heaping Hazelnut chubby lip balm to keep it moist. I do apologize if my face doesn’t look that flawless, you can see a bit of breakout here and there, since my immune system is currently down. As you can see, I do not airbrush my face, so what you see is what I actually look like! 😉

How-to:

1. I applied a yellow cream face paint as a base all over my eyelid. For this tutorial, I used PAC , an Indonesian brand, but you can use any yellow cream base (e.g. MUFE Flash Palette), OR a white base (e.g. NYX Milk Jumbo Pencil in Milk). A good base is necessary so the yellow pops even more.

2. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied MUFE eyeshadow no. 71 all over my eyelid.

3. Using a small blending brush, I applied Urban Decay Buck on outer V and extended it into the crease.

4. Using a dark blue cream face paint from PAC and an angled eyeliner brush, I created a winged liner along the upper lash line.

5. *VERY IMPORTANT STEP* I SET the cream eyeliner using Urban Decay Chaos with another clean eyeliner brush. If you don’t set your cream face paint, it’ll crease.

6. On the bottom lash line, I applied Dragon Fly from Sleek Makeup iDivine Ultra Matte V1 Brights.

7. I lined my tightline and waterline using L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner.

8. I curled my lashes, applied mascara, and applied Ardell Demi Luvies falsies.

9. I filled my brows using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash.

10. For my face, I decided to keep it simple. I applied Marc Jacobs Gel foundation using CoverFX cream foundation brush.

11. I applied a little bit of yellow corrector from MAC Conceal/Correct palette in Medium under my eyes.

12. I dusted MAC Mineralized Skinfinish powder all over my face.

13. I applied Smashbox Halo Blush powder in In Bloom.

14. I lined and filled my lips using MAC Spice lip liner. On top of it, I applied Clinique Chubby lip balm in Heaping Hazelnut.

L’oreal Neon Skirt

Finally! A tutorial to be posted. I do have to say, I’m not really loving how this look ends up. I used L’oreal Neon Skirt Color Riche quad eyeshadow that I recently purchased (posted on Instagram and Twitter). I love the colors that come with this quad, but…*sigh here comes the but*…I feel that one of the shadows is quite difficult to blend. May be it’s my fault for not priming my eyelid since  I can’t find my primers because I’m not totally unpacked yet.

Anyhooow, I just wanted to do a quick tutorial so I don’t go missing for another week or so, leaving the blog empty. Hmm, what do you guys think? I followed the instruction from the back of the quad for this look. I feel that the green color wasn’t blended properly. I wanted a sheer wash of color, so I tried blending it out, but it doesn’t look that great, eh…Also, I don’t know how I feel about the purple eyeliner. It’s not intense enough for me to be an eyeliner. Also, there’s a lot of fall out from the purple, so watch out for it.

Nevertheless, I think this can be a great look if you want to try to wear colors to go out. It’s very sheer and kinda look like watercolors, no? Oh, I love the vanilla highlighter in the middle of the lid! It makes the eyes look so pretty when you blink.

How-to:

1. I applied the gold eyeshadow from L’oreal Neon Skirt quad on the inner half of the lid using a flat eyeshadow brush.

2. Using a clean blending brush, I applied the green shadow from the same quad on the outer half of the lid.

3. (you can skip this step) I blended out the green eyeshadow towards the brow bone, leaving a little bit of color concentration in mostly the outer V of the eyelid.

4. Using my ring finger, I lightly tapped the vanilla eyeshadow from the quad to the middle of the lid.

5. Using an angled brush, I applied the purple eyeshadow of the L’oreal Neon Skirt quad along the upper lashline.

6. I applied the green along the lower lash line using a pencil brush. I dabbed a tiny bit of gold in the inner corner of the lower lid using a small shader brush.

7. I also lined the waterline and tightline using L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner.

8. I curled my lashes and applied L’oreal Carbon Black mascara on both upper and lower lashes. I also applied EyeMe false eyelashes (free sample from a friend) on the upper lashes.

9. I filled my brows in using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Brunette.

L'oreal Neon Skirt

10. For the face, I applied MUFE HD Foundation in 118 using a foundation brush.

11. I set the foundation using MUFE Pro Finish powder.

12. I contoured my face and nose slightly using MAC Shadowy.

13. On the cheeks, I applied MAC Dainty blush.

14. I filled my lips in using MAC Dervish lip liner.

Lavish

I’m just going to say please ignore that red dot on my eyebrow. It hurts and it’s a slightly irritated. Thanks! I accidentally scratched it cause it was itchy when I was doing my eyes, and in the pictures below it was irritated and a bit swollen.

Anyhow, I just recently watched Percy Jackson and the Sea Monster (I also watched Elysium!). Anyways, I saw the Hippocampus from the movie and I love its color. Gorgeous! Anyways, I took some of the colors that I can see prominently on the Hippocampus as an inspiration. Not to mention, I just bought the new Clinique Chubby Eye Tint in Two Ton Teal, so a good excuse to do a teal look!

Let’s get the tutorial started!

How-to:

1. I applied Clinique Chubby Stick Eye Tint in Two Ton Teal all over the lid. I layered this product several times to get the intensity I want.

2. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied MAC Shimmermoss on top of the Two Ton Teal.

3. I used a small shader brush and applied no-brand black eyeshadow on the outer V of the lid.

4. Using a clean fluffy blending brush, I clean up the crease.

5.  Using another clean blending brush, I applied MAC Coppering just slightly above the crease.

6. I used an angled brush to apply MUFE no. 71 on the inner corner of the eyes and MAC Indigo Ink on the outer corner of the lower lid.

7. I lined my waterline and tightline using L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner.

8. I created a feline flick (or winged eyeliner) along the upper lashline using Kanebo Kate Super Sharp eyeliner.

9. I filled my brows in using MUFE Aqua Brow Gel.

10. I curled my lashes and applied L’oreal Double Extended Curl mascara on both top and lower lashes.

Purple and teal makeup

11. For the face, first I applied Clinique CC cream to prep the skin, and then applied MUFE HD Foundation all over using a foundation brush. I covered my blemishes and under eye circles using MUFE HD concealer

12. I also contoured my cheeks and nose using MAC Shadowy.

13. I applied a mix of MAC Cubic and MAC Fleur Power on the cheeks.

14. On the lips, I applied Clinique Bountiful Blush chubby lipstick.

Teal and purple makeup

Fiery

As mentioned previously and on twitter, I’m having a breakout on my face and so I decided to do just a tutorial for the eyes. I apologize, but there were 2 very persistent ones right above my lips and 1 on the cheek that’s super painful. Anyhow, I hope those pesky pimples will be gone soon. I also just ran out of my benzoyl peroxide (I bought one from Canada), and couldn’t find a replacement for it in Jakarta yet. If anyone has any recommendation, let me know.

For the tutorial, I wanted to use my Sleek Makeup Ultra Matte Brights v1 palette since I find it quite hard to use this palette. I find a difficult time blending the eyeshadow from this palette, and since the colors are matte, I also find it quite hard to create depth for my eyes. However, I actually think I quite nailed this look. I love the combination of the yellow and the bright pink. I know this might not be a wearable look since it’s extremely bright, but I had a fun time doing it. Might work for Halloween or for whoever love wearing bright makeup.

How-to:

1. Using a synthetic brush, I applied PAC face paint cream in Yellow all over my eyelid.

2. I applied PAC face paint cream in Shocking Pink on the outer V and on the crease using a synthetic art brush.

3. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied Bammi from Sleek Makeup iDivine v1 palette on the eyelid.

4. Using a small fluffy brush, I applied Pucker from the same palette on the outer V and on the crease lightly.

5. Using a smaller more dense brush (similar to a small shader brush), I applied Sugarlite from the palette on the crease only.

6. I applied Sugarlite on the lower lid using a smudge brush.

7. (not in picture), I also applied a black matte eyeshadow brush on the outer corner of the lower lid using an angled brush.

8. Using Sigma eyeliner brush, I applied MUFE Aqua Black along the upper lash line creating a winged liner.

9. I lined my waterline using L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner pencil.

10. I filled in my brows using Shu Uemura Hard Formula 9 Brow Pencil.

11. I curled my lashes and applied Maybelline Volume Express Turbo Boost on both upper and lower lashes.

Pastel Rainbow

Hi all! I apologize for missing 2 days of tutorials. To be honest, I had 1 tutorial but I wasn’t too happy with how it turned out. So, I rather postponed the post than posting a not-so-great tutorial.

Anyhow, I decided to use my Coastal Scents 88 Prism palette  (only $19.95!) for the look, so it’s easier for whoever wants to re-create this look. If you do decide to re-create the look, please link me up!

The reason why I wanted to use the Coastal Scents 88 Prism palette is to create a pastel finish to the look. I quite like how this turned out. I was quite skeptical cause I like a shimmery finish, but as I said I love how this turns out! I’ve labelled the colors that I used in the picture below, so please refer to the colors on the tutorial.

The steps are quite long, so please be patient reading it…the key to this tutorial is to have clean flat eyeshadow brushes (or you can clean in between steps). Make sure it’s clean so the colors don’t get muddy and mixed up.

How-to:

1. I applied NYX Jumbo eyeshadow in Milk and blended it on my eyelid using my ring finger.

4. I applied eyeshadow E on the inner corner of the lid using a clean eyeshadow brush.

5. Using another clean eyeshadow brush, I blended the line where the eyeshadow met.

Color Crush

I have a crush on the MUFE Aqua Cream no. 52. The color is just so pretty! I just want to use it on every tutorial…Anyways, I did this look just to play around with colors. I think I might do another look with the green cream shadow. We’ll see. I had a lot of fun playing around with this color.

How-to:

1. Using a synthetic brush, I applied MUFE Aqua cream no. 52 Pearly Green Dragon on the outer half of my lid.

2. Using MUFE Aqua Shadow stick in Pearly Peach on the inner half of the lid. I used my finger to blend the colors.

3. I used a flat eyeshadow brush and applied Smashbox Admire Me Soft Shimmering Coral on the inner half of the lid and UD Kush on the outer half.

4. Using a small shader eyeshadow brush, I applied UD Perversion on the outer V and the crease.

5. I cleaned the small shader brush on a tissue and use the brush to blend the harsh line.

6. I applied MUFE no. 92 eyeshadow on the crease lightly using a blending brush.

7. Using wet wipe, I cleaned the outer edge of my eye to clean up and sharpen the edge.

8. I also applied UD Foxy eyeshadow under the brow.

9. Using an angled eyebrow brush, I applied MUFE no. 92 eyeshadow on the lower lid. I applied UD Bordello on the inner corner of the lower lid.

Dahlia

I love this combo! Green and orange are so pretty together. Anyways, I did not do a full face makeup for this tutorial since I was just playing with my Sleek Makeup iDivine Snapshot palette. However, I do thought it was pretty, so I decided to post this up.

My lid was prep using MAC Soft Ochre paint pot.

How-to:

1. I applied Kiwi Flower all over my eyelid using a flat eyeshadow brush.

2. I used the other side of the brush and applied Tequila Sunrise on the outer half.

3. Using a clean fluffy brush, I blended the orange just slightly above the crease.

4. I applied Sunset right on the crease using a small fluffy brush.

5. Using a clean blending brush, I blended the edge of the orange eyeshadow.

6. I use a small shader brush, I applied UD Blackout eyeshadow on the outer V.

7. I blended the black eyeshadow using a Smashbox Bullet brush.

8. I applied Kiwi Flower on the inner half of the lower lid, and Tequila Sunrise on the outer half using a small shader brush.

Coral and Blue

I wanted to do another look with the MUFE Aqua Cream no. 9. I had to find a good reason to buy it right? Hahaha…I decided to incorporate some blue and yellow. I found inspiration from my trip to Bali couple months a go. The performers in Bali use a lot of blue, pink and gold. In my own twist, I decided to use coral, blue and yellow (and a tiny bit of bronze). When I used to perform(Balinese traditional dance) back when I was a kid, they used to put the 3 dots using a toothpaste (applied using toothpick). For this look, I added 3 tiny dots at the end of the eyeliner to replace the toothpaste.

I’ve found an issue with the MUFE Aqua cream no. 9. You have to work really2 fast to blend it. If you want a lot of colors on your lid, you have to apply it thinly first and then layer it as soon as you can. Speed is your friend when using this product.

Let me tell you my sad story. Ah, talking about it made me so angry! Anyways, so as you guys know I owned Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in Edgy Emerald, Tenacious Teal and Inked in Pink. I always made sure that any of my cream products are closed tightly. However, for some reason, I guess may be when I was rushing since I have been traveling a lot these couple months, my Tenacious Teal wasn’t properly stored! The lid was loose and guess what! It’s drying out!!! *sigh* Oh the horror! The worse part is that I can only get them in Canada since it’s not sold in Asia yet! *cry*

Anyways…I have to go get alcohol soon so I can revive my Tenacious Teal to its original state. So, do forgive me if the Tenacious Teal isn’t looking so tenacious in this tutorial.

Let’s get down to business now, shall we? 🙂

mufe aqua cream no. 9

How-to:

1. Using a synthetic brush, I applied 2-3 layers of MUFE Aqua Cream shadow in no. 9 on the lid, focusing most of the products on the center of my eyelid.

2. Using another synthetic brush I applied Maybelline Tenacious Teal 24hr Tattoo on the outer half of the lid. I blended the edge of the crease using a blending brush.

3. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied Ben Nye Cosmic Blue on top of Maybelline Tenacious Teal. I blended the color on the crease using a fluffy blending brush.

4. I applied L’oreal Pepsy Coral infallible eyeshadow on the inner half of the lid.

5. Using a small fluffy brush, I applied Smashbox Blackout eyeshadow on the outer V and I blended the shadow using a clean blending brush.

6. I also blended the L‘oreal Pepsy Coral towards the blue using a clean blending brush.

7. I lined my waterline using NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk.

8. Using a small shader brush, I applied MUFE eyeshadow no. 71 on top of the white eyeliner.

9. I applied Smog eyeshadow from NAKED 1 palette along the lower lash line using an angled eyeliner brush.

10. I created a winged eyeliner along the upper lash line using Kat Von D Trooper eyeliner. I also created 3 tiny dots at the end of the eyeliner using the same product.

11. I curled my lashes and applied mascara on top and lower lashes.

12. I filled my brows in using Chanel Mistre brow pencil.
