Smoky Eyes with a Neon Eyeliner

Hey ya’ll! I hope everyone is doing great this weekend! I posted this look on Instagram last night, and I almost forgot to upload it today. Anyways, as mentioned on my Instagram account, this smoky eyes with a neon eyeliner look is a recreation from @jenmiamakeup. She’s one of the many great makeup artists who I follow on Instagram. I love how she does hers with a neon yellow. I tried this one with the only neon pigment I owned – MAC Neo-orange loose pigment.

If you are going to recreate this look, I’d suggest using a mixing medium instead of water, like I did. I used water and for some reason the pigment didn’t want to mix smoothly. I ran out of my mixing medium so I have to go get one in the near future. The other issue that I kept having is the fact that my smoky eyes kept creasing. Ugh, I should have used a different eyeshadow base (and probably should have prime my eyelid first). So, I’d suggest for you to use an eyelid primer to avoid creasing.

Anyhow, let’s get the tutorial started!

How-to:

1. Using a light brown eyeshadow (mine was a sample, and it has no brand nor name), I applied this shade just above my crease using a clean blending brush. I used this shade as a transition color, the shade is just slightly darker than my own skin color.

2. Using a deep chocolate brown (again, this was a sample with no brand and no name), I applied this shade right on the crease using a small crease brush.

3. Using the same blending brush as step no. 1, I blended the chocolate shade.

4. I applied Revlon Photoready Kajal eyeliner in Carbon Cleopatra, I applied the black eyeliner all over my eyelid, and waterline.

5. I lightly blended the eyeliner using a synthetic art brush.

6. I applied Kat Von D Monarch palette Deadhead eyeshadow on top of the black base using a flat eyeshadow brush. I also applied this eyeshadow along the lower lash line using a small shader brush.

7. Using the same brush as step no. 1, I blended out the edge of Deadhead so there’s no harsh line.

8. I mixed water and MAC Neo-Orange loose pigment to create the neon winged eyeliner.

9. On my brows, I used Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash to fill them.

10. On my lashes, I applied Ardell 105 false lashes.

11. On my face, I applied MARC JACOBS gel foundation using CoverFX foundation brush. I concealed using MUFE HD concealer, and set my face using CoverFX translucent powder.

12. I applied Benefit Moon Beam highlighter on the bridge of my nose, cupid’s bow, chin and cheekbones.

13. I lightly contoured my face (sides of the nose, under my cheeks, jawline, and temples) using NARS ITA kabuki brush and MAC Blunt powder.

14. I applied MAC Dainty on my cheeks.

15. For the lips, I applied MAC Spice lip pencil all over.

How to: Winged Eyeliner

I finally got around to post this tutorial. Sorry for being M.I.A this week, I was busy and I got really sick. Anyways, this how to winged eyeliner tutorial was a request from a former student of mine. I’ve done something similar in my Sugar and Spice tutorial. You can use a tape, yes scotch tape, to help create that clean straight line.

I use an angled eyeliner brush (MAC 208) because it has a sharp angle that will help you to create that “wing”. Please note on how I drag the brush from outer or inner part towards the center of my eyelid.

The trick is to let the brush guide you. Also, it’ll be easier if you tilt your chin up and look down to your mirror – that will allow the skin on your eyelid to stretch (just like in my photo).

You can also use a liquid eyeliner, or a straight brush like MAC 209 brush. I, personally, find the angled brush is easier for beginner. That sharp angle really helps in creating the wing. Yes, I know I sound like a broken record, but trust me, yes? 🙂

2 products you’ll need:

1. MAC 208 brush.

2. Any black gel eyeliner – I used L’oreal Infallible Gel Lacquer in Blackest Black.

How-to:

1. Create an imaginary angle for your wing. I usually line the outer corner to the tail of my brow.

2. Using MAC 208 and gel eyeliner, I drew an angle. I suggest just placing the brush down to mark it. If you want to make it longer, you can extend it later.

3. Drag the brush towards the center of the eyelid.

4. Flip your brush so the longer end is on the inner part of the eyelid. Drag the brush towards the center of the eyelid so the lines meet.

5. Once the triangle is complete, fill in the rest of the empty area.

6. At this moment, if you want to extend your tip, you can.

7. You can also use a wet wipe, or a q-tip dipped in makeup remover (non-oily) to clean up the edge of the wing if needed.

8. I filled my brows in, applied some falsies and voila! Done!

Lavender Grey using NARSissist Palette

For this week’s tutorial, I decided to use my NARSissist Palette again! I fell in love with this palette all over again. I feel like it’s such a great palette with a more mature color option. For today’s tutorial, I picked out my favorite shades which were in the range of grey, lavender, and violet. I know the picture doesn’t show much of the lavender/violet on the lid, but I assure you it’s such a pretty grey with very subtle hint of lavender/violet in it. If you’re one not to wear color, and prefer a much neutral option, this would be a great addition to your makeup wardrobe.

Oh, just to let you guys know, I have been trying to update my Instagram daily. I’m going to try to do a weekly “Monday Makeup Inspiration”, and regram/repost-ing every look that YOU guys do if you FOLLOW me (@kireimakeup) and add #kireimakeup to your Instagram pictures! I’d love to see your makeup and/or your re-creation of any of my looks!

Summer Makeup using MAC Sweet and Punchy

Last night, I put up a sneak preview on today’s tutorial on my Instagram account! I was super pumped to do this tutorial since I can show you guys how you can use the previous tutorial technique and incorporate other color into the look. Don’t you just love that bright green-yellow eyeshadow?! It’s actually MAC Sweet and Punchy eyeshadow, which was from the old MAC collection. If you can’t find this eyeshadow, you can substitute it for MAC Rated R which is exactly the same color.

Anyways, I also want to mention that I’ll start doing “repost” or “regram” on my Instagram account if you follow me and tag your beautiful makeup works with #kireimakeup. I’d love to see your works, especially if you re-create one of my looks! So, please do follow and tag me on Instagram!

Wearable Purple Eye Makeup

How is everyone this week? It’s been really cold here in Canada! If you are anywhere in the colder region, keep yourself warm, yes?! Anyways, due to the cold gloomy weather, I wanted to create a look in which I incorporated a little bit of colour. I’ve decided to do a wearable purple eye makeup. It’s super simple and easy, you can use any colour of your liking on the crease. I chose purple just because I think it’ll look great on every eye colours.

The trick to this light colored eye makeup is to use a black mascara and eyeliner to tie the whole look together. Black mascara and eyeliner are a must with this look since the eyeshadows used in this tutorial is quite light, and I didn’t use any contour colour on the crease.

Wearable purple makeup

How-to:

1. I applied NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Milk all over my eyelid using my finger.

2. Using a fluffy blending brush (or you can use a flat eyeshadow brush), I applied Bad Girl from Sleek Makeup Showstoppers palette all over the lid.

3. Using a clean fluffy crease brush, I applied MUFE purple eyeshadow no. 92 on the crease.

4. I blended the purple eyeshadow slightly using a clean blending brush, blending the eyeshadow upwards above the crease.

5. I created a winged eyeliner using an angled eyeliner brush and L’oreal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner in Blackkest Black.

6. Using a clean angled eyeliner brush, I applied UD Faint eyeshadow along the lower lash line.

7. I also lined my waterline using MAC Chromagraphic pencil eyeliner in NC15.

8. I filled my brows using Anastasia Duo Brow Powder in Brunette.

9. I curled my lashes, and applied Clinique High Impact Mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

Feel free to add false eyelashes to make your eyes look more wide awake. I ran out of falsies, so I didn’t apply any.

10. On my face, I applied Smashbox Halo foundation all over using Sigma Flat Kabuki brush.

11. I applied MAC Pro Conceal/Correct palette in yellow corrector under my eyes, and on the bridge of my nose.

12. I lightly contour my face using MAC Skinfinish natural in Medium Deep.

13. I applied MAC Dainty blush on my cheeks.

14. On my lips, I applied Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede lipstick in Socialite, and added a few dabs of YSL Glossy Stain in Peche Cerra-Colla (27).

Fresh Dewy Makeup Look

Having a bold makeup is always nice, but I usually wear this type of makeup on my daily life. I barely wear makeup on a day-to-day basis, because I used to have a really bad case of acne and I just get used to not wear makeup at all. However, when I do feel like wearing makeup, I usually go for the easiest look. I used to wear this look a lot when I was younger, and I don’t even know why I stopped wearing it. It’s so easy, and the only thing that take time is the eyeliner. However, once you master the winged liner, it’s so fast and simple.

This look is really good for beginners who want to practice blending and creating the cat-eyeliner (or also called winged liner). The gold eyeshadow in this tutorial can be replaced with any eyeshadow color. I chose NARS Etrusque because I just love the color, and it has just enough shimmers to brighten up your eyes.

The rest of the face is kept very fresh and dewy, afterall it is called Fresh Dewy Makeup look! This face is super simple, the keys are to use cream products, and to lightly powder the oily areas only. For me, I powdered under my eyes to set my concealer only for this tutorial. Why, you ask? That’s because my skin in the winter is quite dry and doesn’t actually get oily at all. If you are oily, just powder the oily areas (usually T-zone or just the cheeks). If you’re oily everywhere, feel free to powder your face, and use a powder highlighter to create the dewy look.

I just feel so young and fresh! I also love the blush I used for this tutorial. I added a touch more than I usually does, just to make my cheeks look like it’s flushing from the inside. I think the blush helps with the whole youthful appearance. This look is so appropriate for everything, from day makeup to party makeup! If you’re planning to wear it during the day, you can create a thinner line or even skip in altogether. If you like it smokier, add black eyeliner on the tightline. It’s so versatile!

Ok, enough of my rambling, let’s get on it!

NARS Etrusque

How-to:

1. I prepped my eyelids using UD Primer Potion (original).

2. I applied NARS Etrusque eyeshadow all over my eyelid using a flat eyeshadow brush.

3. Using a clean fluffy brush, I blended the eyeshadow so there’s no harsh edge.

4. I lined my waterline, and lower lash line using MAC Powersurge pencil eyeliner. (You can use black, white, beige eyeliner if you like)

5. I applied NARS Etrusque on the lower lash line using an angled eyeliner brush.

6. Using a clean angled eyeliner brush, I applied L’oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner 24Hr in Blackest Black on the upper lash line creating a winged eyeliner.

7. I curled my lashes and applied Tarte Lights, Camera and Flashes mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

8. I applied false eyelashes (sample) on my upper lashes.

9. I filled my brows in using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Brunette.

Fresh, dewy makeup

12. I set the concealer using CoverFX translucent powder.

14. I applied Revlon Charmed Cream Blush on my cheeks using a clean foundation brush, and then blending it to my skin using my finger.

16. I filled my lips using MAC Dervish lip liner, and then YSL Glossy Stain in PĂŞche Cerra-Cola (27) on top of it.

Sleek Makeup Showstoppers – Smoky Purple Tutorial

I’ve bought several Sleek Makeup iDivine palettes back when I was in Jakarta from Luxola website. I love the iDivine palettes, and have used some of the palettes regularly for my makeup job. Today, I want to showcase the Sleek Makeup Showstoppers palette since I haven’t do a tutorial using this palette yet.

I’ll try to do a review and swatches of the Sleek Makeup Showstoppers next time. I love the combination of sparkles, matte and shimmers in this palette. For today’s tutorial, I wanted to use some colors since I’ve been doing quite an earthy, brown, neutrals on my previous tutorials.

I’ve done a similar tutorial like this one using a more wearable color in my Pearlescent post. I love having the highlight in the center of the lid. It looks so gorgeous when you blink. You can obviously do this tutorial with any colors you like. I’ll try to do another tutorial using another color, something more wearable.

Anyways, let’s get to the tutorial!

Sleek Makeup iDivine ShowstopperHow-to:

1. I applied Sparkle from Sleek Makeup Showstoppers palette on the outer corner, and the inner corner of my eyelid using a flat eyeshadow brush. I also applied the eyeshadow on the crease as well. Leave the center of the lid empty.

Smashbox Full Exposure Look #1

I’ve recently bought Smashbox Full Exposure palette using my 20% discount from Sephora (yippie!). I’m pretty sure if you guys follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you would’ve seen the picture of the palette there.

Anyways, I’ll talk more about the palette in depth later on. I just have to say, this is an amazing palette! The shimmer side of this Smashbox Full Exposure Palette has beautiful glitters, which surprisingly stayed on the lid really well. Not to mention, the palette consists of nudes, greys, blacks and browns! Both in shimmer and matte! So much love!

This look is perfect for everything! If you want to wear it out on a date, skip the false lashes. It’s so perfect for the upcoming holiday (too early?), brides and any type of parties. It’s warm, not too smoky, not too light. Just enough shimmer, and I love the combination of different textures.

The rest of the face is kept quite minimal, with a tad more highlight to compensate for this winter weather. I used L’oreal Color Caresse Shine Stain to keep my lips moist.

Chanel Kaska Beige re-visited

Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since my last post. I do apologize for the lack of post. Things have been going really crazy in my personal life, and I can barely catch my breath. Anyways, let’s put those things aside, and get back to this whole blogging things back on track!

Today’s tutorial used one of my all-time favorite palette from Chanel, called Kaska Beige. I’ve actually used this palette before in my Chanel Kaska Beige tutorial. This tutorial has a little bit more of a smokier feel than the older post, however still wearable for party, wedding, prom, night-out, pageant etc.

I also added a white eyeliner on the tightline to make my eyes look bigger, and heavier lashes for a doll-eye look. I applied more blush on the cheeks, just to complete the whole “doll” look. I love to add extra pinch of blush esp. in the winter when the colors are grey, and my skin feels blaaaah.

Oh, I also used the new MAC Masterclass Brush Oval 6 on my face, and I’ve to say I love it! I’ll post a review later.
