KVD Mi Vida Loca Remix Tutorial #1

As mentioned in my previous post, I do have a KVD Mi Vida Loca Remix tutorial! I used mostly the greens and blues from that palette for this look. If you are interested in seeing swatches and my thoughts on it, please check out my Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix palette swatches. I am loving this palette, I think I’ll try to do more looks with this palette in the future.

I do have 2 other posts lining up to be published, but since this palette was highly anticipated, I’ve decided to publish this look first. I’m going to try to publish the other 2 posts next week, so don’t forget to subscribe to my blog (subscription box is on the right side bar) so you can get an update as soon as I publish it! I’ll try to get back into regular blogging – 3x/week again.

Sleek Makeup Candy Palette

My Sleek Makeup Candy Palette is back in my hands again! I accidentally left it back in Jakarta last year, and my brother brought it back to Canada for me! Woohooo!!! So happy to have this Sleek Makeup Candy palette back to create many colorful looks.

So the inspiration behind this colorful look is actually a “Batik” top (worn in pictures below) I received yesterday from Sofia via my brother. My friend, Sofia from @Sophie_Tobelly, is an amazing fashion designer, and she actually created this top and sold it in her store. A big THANK YOU and shout out to Sofia!!! You guys should really check her out on Instagram (IG)! She also sent down a clutch she created, I posted it on my IG account so please do check it out and follow me on IG!

The top has several different colors like red, purple, white, and blue. I was going to use the blue from the palette, but it ended up being too chalky, so I changed it to green instead. I do love the end result, it almost has a watercolor feel to it. Should you decide to replicate this look, please do tag me on IG or add #kireimakeup.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Tutorial #3

Spring is almost here, and I wanted to do something lighter and with a bit more color. So, for today’s Too Faced Chocolate Bar tutorial, I created a neutral eye makeup with a bit of purple on the bottom lash. This is how I usually wear my makeup if I want a splash of color on my eyes.

I’ve done similar looks on my other tutorials – Kat Von D Monarch tutorial #2 and Cobalt Blue. For other ways to incorporate just a bit of colors into your eye makeup, please check out this other tutorials – Adding Color to eye makeup and a Hint of Mint.

For this look, I specifically wanted to only utilize Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. I will try to create more looks with this palette, so you can see how versatile this palette is. You can check out my other tutorials using this palette as well – Holiday Makeup #2, Holiday Makeup #3, and 4 bridal makeup looks.

I do apologize for the unruly eyebrows. I’m trying to grow them out, but I’ll clean them up before my next tutorial, promise! Anyways, I’d like to mention that the pictures do no justice on how the eyeshadows are in real life. My room was bright when I took the first couple photos, but it get cloudy real fast yesterday. I had to deal with the Sun going in and out, so the last few pictures don’t really show how shiny and awesome the eyeshadows are.

World Cup 2014 Brazil Inspired Makeup

Are you guys following FIFA World Cup 2014?! I sure did, and I’m rooting for Brazil! Go Brazil!!! Anyways, since I’m showing my support for Brazil, I decided to do this Brazil Inspired Makeup. I’d probably do a World Cup inspired makeup series for the next couple weeks just for fun! I wanted to post this tomorrow, but decided to do it today.

Anyhow, for this Brazil Inspired Makeup tutorial, I wanted to create a wearable look that uses the colors of the team’s jersey – mainly yellow, a little bit of green and blue (as you can see from the jersey that I wore for today’s tutorial). I love the result, and I especially love that blue eyeliner! If you do re-create this look please TAG ME on twitter or instagram, and hashtag your work with #kireimakeup.

Since the eyes are so bright and bold, I decided to tone it down on my face. My face is kept very minimal, no contouring. My lips, I decided to go with a nude lip, with my new favorite lip pencil, MAC Spice. Since my lips were quite dry, I added Clinique Heaping Hazelnut chubby lip balm to keep it moist. I do apologize if my face doesn’t look that flawless, you can see a bit of breakout here and there, since my immune system is currently down. As you can see, I do not airbrush my face, so what you see is what I actually look like! 😉

How-to:

1. I applied a yellow cream face paint as a base all over my eyelid. For this tutorial, I used PAC , an Indonesian brand, but you can use any yellow cream base (e.g. MUFE Flash Palette), OR a white base (e.g. NYX Milk Jumbo Pencil in Milk). A good base is necessary so the yellow pops even more.

2. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied MUFE eyeshadow no. 71 all over my eyelid.

3. Using a small blending brush, I applied Urban Decay Buck on outer V and extended it into the crease.

4. Using a dark blue cream face paint from PAC and an angled eyeliner brush, I created a winged liner along the upper lash line.

5. *VERY IMPORTANT STEP* I SET the cream eyeliner using Urban Decay Chaos with another clean eyeliner brush. If you don’t set your cream face paint, it’ll crease.

6. On the bottom lash line, I applied Dragon Fly from Sleek Makeup iDivine Ultra Matte V1 Brights.

7. I lined my tightline and waterline using L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner.

8. I curled my lashes, applied mascara, and applied Ardell Demi Luvies falsies.

9. I filled my brows using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash.

10. For my face, I decided to keep it simple. I applied Marc Jacobs Gel foundation using CoverFX cream foundation brush.

11. I applied a little bit of yellow corrector from MAC Conceal/Correct palette in Medium under my eyes.

12. I dusted MAC Mineralized Skinfinish powder all over my face.

13. I applied Smashbox Halo Blush powder in In Bloom.

14. I lined and filled my lips using MAC Spice lip liner. On top of it, I applied Clinique Chubby lip balm in Heaping Hazelnut.

sleek makeup idivine candy paletteEyelids are prepped using Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden. All shades for the eyes are from Sleek Makeup iDivine Candy Palette.

How-to:

1. Using Smashbox bullet crease brush, I applied Flump slightly above my crease.

2. Using a small blending brush, I applied Parma Violet on the outer V and the crease. You can apply this using a small shader brush for a more precise application.

3. Using the same bullet crease brush as step 1, I blended out Parma Violet to remove any harsh edge on the crease. I also slightly winged the outer part.

4. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied Aniseed all over my eyelid.

5. Using a small shader brush, I applied Bon Bon on the inner corner of my eyes, and then I applied Parma Violet along the lower lash line.

6. I used my face powder (MUFE 118 Pro Finish) and a blending brush under my brows, blending it into the purple shades slightly to remove any harsh edge.

7. I lined my upper lash line using Kanebo Kate Super Sharp Eyeliner. On the waterline, I applied black eyeliner pencil.

8. I curled my lashes, applied mascara, and then applied Ardell Demi Wispies lashes. (As you can see, Ardell demi wispies falsies are my current favorite lol).

9. For the brows, I applied Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash. I lightly set it with Anastasia Brow Powder duo in Brunette.

10. For my face, I applied Motives Fire highlight/contour palette. I applied the lightest highlight color on the high planes of my face – cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupid’s bow, forehead, chin, below hollows of the cheeks, and under my eyes. I applied the darkest contour color on the hollows of my cheeks, sides of my nose, and temples. I blended them out using a damped beauty blender sponge and MUFE HD Foundation in 118.

11. For my cheeks, I applied Smashbox Halo blush in In Bloom.

12. For the lips, my new favorite, I applied L’oreal Color Riche Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick in Rose Symphony

Colorful Carnival Makeup

As Easter is approaching this weekend, and Carnival next weekend, I wanted to do a tutorial that incorporates super bright and really fun colors onto my makeup. This Colorful Carnival Makeup look is inspired by the ladies in Jamaica, who are unafraid to wear bright eyeshadows!

I used Sleek Makeup Ultra Matte Brights V1 for the eyeshadows since I really wanted to use matte eyeshadows for this look. If you do decide to use this palette for your makeup, I suggest that you use a white base (i.e. NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk) so the colors pop even more.

Again, don’t forget to check my Instagram for daily updates since I’ll be away from my laptop this weekend! Remember to TAG your work with #KIREIMAKEUP so I can see and get inspired by YOU! 😉

Scroll all the way down for products list.

All eyeshadows used in this tutorial is from Sleek Makeup Ultra Matte Brights V1. If you are in Asia, and you want to buy this palette, please check Luxola website! Use the code LXBLOG for 15% off!

How-to:

1. I prepped my eyelid using NYX Jumbo Pencil Shadow in Milk on both upper and lower lid.

2. I applied Pucker in the middle of my eyelid using a flat eyeshadow brush.

3. Using the same brush, I applied Pout on the outer part of my eyelid.

4. Using a clean shader brush, I blended out the edge of Pucker and Pout to remove any harsh edge.

5. I applied Bammi on the inner corner of the eyelid using a flat eyeshadow brush.

6. (Optional) I applied Sugarlite on my crease using a small shader brush. Optional step since the purple isn’t dark enough.

7. (Not in picture) I applied Floss on the crease using a blending brush as a transition color.

8. I lined my upper lash line with Kanebo Kate Super Sharp Eyeliner. On my waterline, I applied L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner.

Fresh Dewy Makeup Look

Having a bold makeup is always nice, but I usually wear this type of makeup on my daily life. I barely wear makeup on a day-to-day basis, because I used to have a really bad case of acne and I just get used to not wear makeup at all. However, when I do feel like wearing makeup, I usually go for the easiest look. I used to wear this look a lot when I was younger, and I don’t even know why I stopped wearing it. It’s so easy, and the only thing that take time is the eyeliner. However, once you master the winged liner, it’s so fast and simple.

This look is really good for beginners who want to practice blending and creating the cat-eyeliner (or also called winged liner). The gold eyeshadow in this tutorial can be replaced with any eyeshadow color. I chose NARS Etrusque because I just love the color, and it has just enough shimmers to brighten up your eyes.

The rest of the face is kept very fresh and dewy, afterall it is called Fresh Dewy Makeup look! This face is super simple, the keys are to use cream products, and to lightly powder the oily areas only. For me, I powdered under my eyes to set my concealer only for this tutorial. Why, you ask? That’s because my skin in the winter is quite dry and doesn’t actually get oily at all. If you are oily, just powder the oily areas (usually T-zone or just the cheeks). If you’re oily everywhere, feel free to powder your face, and use a powder highlighter to create the dewy look.

I just feel so young and fresh! I also love the blush I used for this tutorial. I added a touch more than I usually does, just to make my cheeks look like it’s flushing from the inside. I think the blush helps with the whole youthful appearance. This look is so appropriate for everything, from day makeup to party makeup! If you’re planning to wear it during the day, you can create a thinner line or even skip in altogether. If you like it smokier, add black eyeliner on the tightline. It’s so versatile!

Ok, enough of my rambling, let’s get on it!

NARS Etrusque

How-to:

1. I prepped my eyelids using UD Primer Potion (original).

2. I applied NARS Etrusque eyeshadow all over my eyelid using a flat eyeshadow brush.

3. Using a clean fluffy brush, I blended the eyeshadow so there’s no harsh edge.

4. I lined my waterline, and lower lash line using MAC Powersurge pencil eyeliner. (You can use black, white, beige eyeliner if you like)

5. I applied NARS Etrusque on the lower lash line using an angled eyeliner brush.

6. Using a clean angled eyeliner brush, I applied L’oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner 24Hr in Blackest Black on the upper lash line creating a winged eyeliner.

7. I curled my lashes and applied Tarte Lights, Camera and Flashes mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

8. I applied false eyelashes (sample) on my upper lashes.

9. I filled my brows in using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Brunette.

Fresh, dewy makeup

10. For the face, I applied MAC Pro Longwear foundation in NC30 using CoverFX cream foundation brush.

11. I applied the concealer from MAC Pro Correct/Conceal palette in Medium under my eyes, as well as below the brows.

12. I set the concealer using CoverFX translucent powder.

13. I contoured my face very lightly using Smashbox contour powder palette (discontinued).

14. I applied Revlon Charmed Cream Blush on my cheeks using a clean foundation brush, and then blending it to my skin using my finger.

15. I highlighted the bridge of my nose, chin, cupid’s bow and top of cheekbones using Benefit Moon Beam.

16. I filled my lips using MAC Dervish lip liner, and then YSL Glossy Stain in Pêche Cerra-Cola (27) on top of it.

L’oreal Neon Skirt

Finally! A tutorial to be posted. I do have to say, I’m not really loving how this look ends up. I used L’oreal Neon Skirt Color Riche quad eyeshadow that I recently purchased (posted on Instagram and Twitter). I love the colors that come with this quad, but…*sigh here comes the but*…I feel that one of the shadows is quite difficult to blend. May be it’s my fault for not priming my eyelid since  I can’t find my primers because I’m not totally unpacked yet.

Anyhooow, I just wanted to do a quick tutorial so I don’t go missing for another week or so, leaving the blog empty. Hmm, what do you guys think? I followed the instruction from the back of the quad for this look. I feel that the green color wasn’t blended properly. I wanted a sheer wash of color, so I tried blending it out, but it doesn’t look that great, eh…Also, I don’t know how I feel about the purple eyeliner. It’s not intense enough for me to be an eyeliner. Also, there’s a lot of fall out from the purple, so watch out for it.

Nevertheless, I think this can be a great look if you want to try to wear colors to go out. It’s very sheer and kinda look like watercolors, no? Oh, I love the vanilla highlighter in the middle of the lid! It makes the eyes look so pretty when you blink.

How-to:

1. I applied the gold eyeshadow from L’oreal Neon Skirt quad on the inner half of the lid using a flat eyeshadow brush.

2. Using a clean blending brush, I applied the green shadow from the same quad on the outer half of the lid.

3. (you can skip this step) I blended out the green eyeshadow towards the brow bone, leaving a little bit of color concentration in mostly the outer V of the eyelid.

4. Using my ring finger, I lightly tapped the vanilla eyeshadow from the quad to the middle of the lid.

5. Using an angled brush, I applied the purple eyeshadow of the L’oreal Neon Skirt quad along the upper lashline.

6. I applied the green along the lower lash line using a pencil brush. I dabbed a tiny bit of gold in the inner corner of the lower lid using a small shader brush.

7. I also lined the waterline and tightline using L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner.

8. I curled my lashes and applied L’oreal Carbon Black mascara on both upper and lower lashes. I also applied EyeMe false eyelashes (free sample from a friend) on the upper lashes.

9. I filled my brows in using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Brunette.

L'oreal Neon Skirt

10. For the face, I applied MUFE HD Foundation in 118 using a foundation brush.

11. I set the foundation using MUFE Pro Finish powder.

12. I contoured my face and nose slightly using MAC Shadowy.

13. On the cheeks, I applied MAC Dainty blush.

14. I filled my lips in using MAC Dervish lip liner.

P.A.C Merak Kasmaran

I purchased the PAC Cantika Jawa Timur 2009 Color Trend. The trio is called Merak Kasmaran, which means Peacock in Love. This is a trio shadow palette – golden yellow, deep purple and teal. The colors aren’t so peacock-y, considering that there’s a lot of blue, green, yellow and bronze in peacock’s feathers, but it’s quite pretty. I bought this for IDR 48,000 at Martha Tilaar store in Pluit Village Mall.

I’m not too crazy how this ended up, but I had to post it! I’m lacking in posts since I’ve been busy going on adventures with Liz. So, I’m so sorry if I’m going missing for couple more weeks. Follow me on Instagram for updates.

How-to

1. I applied the purple eyeshadow from PAC Merak Kasmaran all over my lid using a flat eyeshadow brush.

2. Using a medium brown eyeshadow (no-name brand, a gift from working at the IMATS booth couple years back) and a small brush, I applied the shadow on the crease.

3. I used a shader brush and blended the edge of the crease.

4. I also applied MAC Swiss Chocolate on the outer V.

5. Using a clean flat eyeshadow brush, I applied the gold yellow shadow from PAC Merak Kasmaran on the inner corner of the lid.

6. I applied the Teal shadow from PAC Merak Kasmaran on the lower lid using an angled eyebrow brush.

7. I lined my waterline and tightline using MUFE Aqua liner in black.

8. Using the same eyeliner, I created winged/cat-eye liner along the upper lash line.

9. I curled my lashes and applied Maybelline Express Volume mascara on the upper and lower lashes.

10. I wanted to try out a new set of falsies I bought in Japan, so I applied Fleur Fleur in 201. I had to cut the ends since they were too long. I know they were purposely made long to give a droopy eye effect, but me no like that effect and thus I cut it.

11. I filled my brows using MUFE Aqua Brow Gel.

PAC Merak Kasmaran

12. For the face, I applied UD Naked foundation using a foundation brush.

13. I applied MUFE HD Concealer under the eyes.

14. I also applied MAC Cubic blush on the cheeks, and Sephora Hello Kitty lipstick in Peach.

ps: I felt like the crease on my right eye (left in photo) is a bit unblended for some reason, which probably is because I was rushing, so please ignore that. I was rushing to go out after the tutorial.

Cat-itude

Have you guys watched The Croods? I just watched it not too long a go, and I love the cute sabertooth tiger! I drew inspiration from his fur colors! I love how it turned out. The eyeshadows I used are my favorites bright colors – chartreuse and teal. I’ve never thought that these 2 colors will work together, but I ended up loving it. MAC Bitter is so gorgeous, it’s been a while since I play with the eyeshadow and I can see myself using it more frequently in the near future.

How-to:

1. I applied MAC Bitter on the inner half of the lid using a flat eyeshadow brush.

2. Using another flat eyeshadow brush, I applied MAC Birds and Berries on the outer half.

3. Using a small fluffy brush, I applied MAC Club on the outer V and on the crease.

4. I blended out MAC Club using a fluffy blending brush.

5. Using an angled eyebrow brush, I applied MAC Bitter on the inner corner of the lower lid and MAC Birds and Berries on rest of the lower lid.

6. I also lined my waterline using L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner.

7. Using a small shader brush, I applied UD Perversion eyeshadow on the outer V and along the crease.

8. I blended the eyeshadow out using a fluffy blending brush.

9. Along the upper lid, I created a winged liner using Kat Von D Trooper eyeliner.

10. I curled my lashes and applied Maybelline Volume Express Turbo Boost mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

11. I filled my brows in using MUFE Aqua Brow Gel.

11. For my face, I applied MUFE HD Foundation and foundation brush.

12. I applied MAC Shadowy as contour and MAC Cubic as blush.

13. On the lips, I applied MUFE Soft Apricot Rouge Artist Natural.
