Paula’s Choice Resist Skincare

paula's choice essential kit review

2 weeks a go, I received a package that contained Paula’s Choice Resist Skincare Line. I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to give this skincare a try. I’m sure most of you beauty lovers have heard of Paula Begoun before, right? She’s the author of “Do Not Go To The Cosmetic Counter Without Me” and “The Original Beauty Bible”. Paula Begoun made it her mission to create a skincare line that works for sensitive skin.

Anyways, so how did I become so lucky to receive these amazing skincare products? Well, I joined Pretty in My Pocket and was chosen to become a Power Primper! So, last month I received a call from Paula’s Choice skin consultant to do a brief consultation regarding my skin condition. If you are thinking of trying Paula’s Choice skincare products, you should definitely do a skin consultation with them since they’ll be able to advise you on which line suit your skin type. When I did my consultation, I let them know that I have a combination skin, and my concerns include clogged pores and dullness. Hence, they sent me the Resist Normal to Oily line!

In short, this skincare line is a pretty good skincare for Normal to Oily skin. I suggest you grabbing the Essential Kit first before going any further with the other products.

Resist Anti-Aging Essential Kit

“This 4-product kit includes the core anti-aging products for normal to oily skin. The products work together to repair signs of aging, shrink enlarged pores and keep oil in check for younger-looking, blemish-free skin”

This kit is pretty much your basic skincare. So far, after using it for almost 2 weeks, I find that this kit is a good basic kit for combination skin. I just find that the night moisturizer isn’t moisturizing enough for me, while the day moisturizer has a very strong sunscreen smell. Does it shrink my pores? I don’t see any result yet, but may be if you use it for a longer period of time than me, you might notice a difference.

  • Cleanser
    • This facial cleanser is white in color, looks a lot like cream.
    • I used 2 pumps to clean my face.
    • It’s not drying, and cleans skin quite well. Don’t use this to remove makeup, I don’t think it cleans makeup well.
    • Use AM & PM
  • Exfoliant
    • aka Toner!
    • I used a couple drops on a cotton pad, after cleanser
    • Has no perfume scent
    • Alcohol free
    • Removes dead skin cells without drying the skin
    • Use AM & PM
  • Moisturizer + SPF
    • Contains SPF 50
    • Smells like sunscreen
    • Thick and creamy, but easily absorbed on the skin
    • If you have known sensitivity towards sunscreen, beware that this might cause breakouts
    • Use AM only
  • Moisturizer
    • This moisturizer can be used during the day if you prefer to use your own sunscreen instead of the Day moisturizer
    • Light yellow in color
    • No fragrance
    • Looks creamy, but actually a gel moisturizer
    • Lightweight, in the winter you might need to do 2 layers instead of 1. 1 layer is not moisturizing enough for me.
    • can be used in the AM & PM

Resist C15 Super Booster

“Resist C15 Super Booster is a concentrated blend of 15% stabilized vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid), antioxidant vitamin E, ferulic acid, and peptides. Resist Ultra-Light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum is light as water, but is packed with high concentrations of powerful antioxidants including Vitamin C”

I have a feeling this vit. C is causing me to breakout! I stopped using it for a couple days now and so far no new breakouts. I don’t really like this Vit. C for a couple reasons – weird smell, and the water-like viscosity makes it hard to apply on face since you can only do 2-3 drops.

  • Clear, water-like product
  • 2-3 drops only as per direction
  • Weird scent
  • Other reviews said that it oxidizes and turns yellow colored
  • Use AM and/or PM

Resist Pure Radiance Skin Brightening Treatment

“This silky treatment brightens skin and refines skin tone for a radiant, youthful appearance.”

This product supposedly remove discoloration when used regularly. I’ve used this product for the past 2 weeks and have yet to see any result. It does have light reflecting particles that will help to make your skin look bright and radiant.

  • Creamy but lightweight
  • Contains light-reflecting particle
  • Easily absorbed to the skin
  • No scent
  • Use in AM and/or PM

paula's choice resist bha 9 review

Resist BHA 9

“This concentrated salicylic acid spot treatment tackles the most stubborn imperfections for dramatic results without irritation.”

This product contains Salicylic Acid, which is known to clear blemishes, and minimizes blackhead and enlarged pores. I have had used products that contain salicylic acid previously and I knew what I was expecting, a little bit of redness and blemishes clear up within a couple days to a week. However, I am not sure why this product is not working for me. I’m really disappointed, if there was 1 product that would work this should be it, but it did not do anything for my blemishes and I don’t know why.

  • Clear and scentless
  • Can cause redness and itchiness, as well as dryness
  • When applying this product to face, I do feel a bit of a tingling sensation
  • Use in PM

This skincare line is a good skincare for Normal to Oily skin. If you are looking for a skincare that is cruelty free and non-scented, you should give Paula’s Choice skincare line a try. Wait for 4-6weeks before you can see any result, it is normal for your skin to breakout while transitioning to a new skincare line.

However, I just changed my skincare to Paula’s Choice for the past 2 weeks, and my skin has been breaking out with small tiny acne as well as huge under the skin type of acne. Since I already have a skincare that works for me, I’ll be stopping this skincare and revert back to my original skincare.

I personally would not be using this line anymore just because I don’t feel it’s not moisturizing enough.
