2 weeks a go, I received a package that contained Paula’s Choice Resist Skincare Line. I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to give this skincare a try. I’m sure most of you beauty lovers have heard of Paula Begoun before, right? She’s the author of “Do Not Go To The Cosmetic Counter Without Me” and “The Original Beauty Bible”. Paula Begoun made it her mission to create a skincare line that works for sensitive skin.
Have you guys ever use makeup wipes? I don’t usually use makeup wipes, so it was interesting for me when I was given the chance to do Kaia Juicy Bamboo Makeup Wipes review. You might have seen a picture of the wipes when I posted in on my Instagram last week. I finally have the opportunity to use it today. This Kaia Juicy Bamboo wipes were sent to me as PR consideration. So, huge thanks and shout out to Kaia for sending me the Juicy Bamboo cleansing clothes!
So, what is Kaia Juicy Bamboo Natural Facial Cleansing Cloths?
“juicy bamboo is not your typical makeup remover “wipe”. It’s actually a healthy cleanser with natural oils.
Cleansing with oils, humectants or balms (non mineral oil) will eliminate skin issues overnight. juicy bamboo natural cleansing oil cloths are soaked in honey, jojoba oil sunflower oil and eight essential oils… they may be called a wipe but on the contrary… they are a cleansing oil cloth. Soaked in vitamins B12, C, E.
Without the harsh makeup stripping ingredients of a typical wipe you can use juicy bamboo as a convenient cleanser. Our cashmere-soft 100% bamboo fibers can be placed in the soil and watch them disappear!
For full coverage makeup, you may wish to remove eye makeup prior to cleansing with juicy bamboo.”
Isn’t this wipe so cute?! I love the packaging! Besides the adorable packaging, I was given wooden tongs (picture on my Instagram) to pick up the wipes. Anyways, the juicy bamboo cleansing cloths come in container of 30 sheets. The nice thing about these wipes are the fact that the wipes are not soaking wet. It’s just wet enough to remove the makeup, but not so wet that it’s slobbering all over my face.
As you can see on my picture below, 1 wipe removes all my makeup on my face. I had foundation, concealer, mascara, eyeliner, brows, lipstick, blush, & powder. It does a pretty good job removing all my makeup without drying my skin off. I did find that it was a bit hard to remove my mascara, but after leaving it on my eyes and pressing it down for couple of minutes, it did remove the mascara as well. It is recommended, though, for you to remove your eye makeup using an eye makeup remover before using the wipe. However, I wanted to test the full strength of the wipe, which was pretty awesome since it did removed all the makeup off my face!
The wipe is pretty small, compared to other makeup wipes, but I don’t mind it at all. I find this size is pretty good for when I travel. Since the Juicy Bamboo wipes are soaked with vitamins (B12, C & E), as well as essential oils, I definitely will be bringing these wipes with me when I travel, esp when I fly to Jakarta! This would be perfect to clean my face on those long flights, since it cleans, tones and moisturizes my skin!

Just recently, I received this TonyMoly Tomatox Magic Massage Pack from Q-Depot.com in the mail. If you are not familiar with the brand, TonyMoly is a South Korean brand, pretty popular in Asia for its cute packaging. The brand claims to be eco-friendly, and infused with organic and natural ingredients. They also claim that their products are not tested on animals. To be honest, I have not tried any TonyMoly products, so I was curious about this mask. As you all know, I’ve been using a certain mud mask on my weekly skincare ritual. I’ve also given face sheet masks a try in the Winter. So, I was very intrigued to give this mask a try!
I want to thank Q-depot for sending me this product! Q-depot is an online store that offers a wide range of Asian skincare, which includes Etude House, Laneige, Mamonde, Sulwhasoo etc. They do offer a free shipping worldwide with a min. order USD$69, and a 30-day free return! For anything below USD$69, Q-depot offers a very low flat rate shipping starting from USD$2.99 for most Asian countries. Q-depot ships their products directly from South Korea, and they are donating 3% of their net profit for social causes!
Before proceeding to give this mask a try, PLEASE do your research first! Know your skin, and please do a TEST PATCH before trying this all over your face. A test patch is when you apply the product in a small area of your skin to see if you are sensitive or if you have any irritation from the product. You can apply a test patch on your neck and leave the product for the next 24-48hr to see if you are sensitive to it. Our skins are all different from each other, so what works for me might not work for you. Please do your due diligence before trying any skincare product out.
First of all, how cute is that packaging?! The TonyMoly Tomatox Magic Massage Pack comes in a tomato-shaped container. I absolutely love the way they package this mask. The mask comes with a spatula, which is awesome! A lot of masks sold over the counters don’t usually come with a spatula. The problem with those masks that have no spatula is that when you use your fingers to scoop the product out, bacterias/dirt will get into the mask. With the spatula, all you have to do is scoop the product out using the spatula, and thus eliminating any bacteria/dirt going into the mask. I recommend dipping the spatula in alcohol between each use.
Active ingredient: 30% glycerin.
Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Water, Sorbitol, Titanium Dioxide, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Niacinamide, PVP, Squalane, Polysorbate 60, Pearl Powder, Coral Powder, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract , Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract , Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Extract , Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Saururus Chinensis Extract, Panthenol, Methylparaben, Carbomer, Arginine, Aluminum Hydroxide , Fragrance, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch , Propylparaben, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Mannitol, Sucrose, Tocopheryl Acetate.
Glycerin is an ingredient used to moisturize your skin. Glycerin can be found in moisturizer, soaps, and many other skincare products. Looking at the ingredients, my first impression is that this mask is going to be a moisturizing mask. It has fruit extracts, like lemon, kiwi, and obviously tomato, so I knew that this mask is loaded with Vit. C. If you don’t already know, Vit. C is important for your skin to combat aging. It also gives the skin a firmer and brighter appearance, coupled with several other benefits like reducing the appearance of brown spots and many more.
Scoop out a little bit of product, using the spatula provided, to your hand. I applied a thin layer of the mask all over my face, and massaged it to the skin for a minute as instructed. I left it on my skin for around 8-minute and then I rinsed it off with lukewarm water. The instruction says you can leave it on for 5-10mins, so feel free to leave it on for 10min if you feel the need to.
This Tomatox Magic Massage Pack mask is very thick and rich, so apply a thin layer to make it easier when you are rinsing it off. I love how when you massage it to the skin, it almost feels like it melts into the skin. It has a very refreshing scent, like cucumber.
This mask does not dry out, unlike mud mask. It will remain wet and moist on the skin, so you can talk, laugh, sneeze without having to worry about the mask cracking.
After I rinsed off the mask, I didn’t notice a huge difference. I just feel like my skin is a tad more firmer, and moisturized. Not sure if you can see in the after picture, but I feel like my pores on the cheeks look smoother after using the mask. I probably would used this mask more in the winter, when my skin is slightly more parched and dry. I did not experience any irritation after using this mask.
You can get this Tomatox Magic Massage Pack for USD$14.87 (80 gram) at Q-Depot. Currently they are having a 10% off of this mask, so grab it for USD$13.38 before the sale ends!

I recently received a Grapefruit Acne Spot Treatment from Citrus Clear, and tested it for a week. Usually with skincare product, I’d prefer to test it for 4-8 weeks before giving a review, but I wanted to share this amazing product with you guys! The result was pretty astounding, that I couldn’t wait to give this a review. Anyways, since I did not have any breakouts on my face, I tested it on my chest where there were couple bumps and redness there.
The Grapefruit Acne Spot Treatment is part of Citrus Clear acne treatment program. There are other products that will complement the spot treatment. The best part about Citrus Clear is the fact that this is “a natural and holistic” skin care line. Their products does NOT contain: “petrochemicals, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, silicone, synthetic fragrance, color dyes.”
This is the only spot treatment, that I’ve tried so far, that does not cause any redness and itchiness. Usually, any spot treatment that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide cause a lot of redness and itchiness, as well as dryness. However, this Grapefruit Spot Treatment does not cause any of it, even though it does contain Salicylic Acid. Huge plus for me!
I’ve used this product only for a week, and the pictures below show you on Day 1, Day 3, and Day 7. I’m quite impressed with how quick the little bumps went away in less than a week. The bigger ones are barely noticeable now, but I believe if I keep using it, the breakout will clear out soon enough.
I did put this product on N, he had a huge pimple near his jaw-line. The bump reduced in size drastically, and the redness went away. This is a great spot acne treatment. You can apply this throughout the day (up to 5x/day), but I usually apply it at night only.
I definitely recommend this product for those who are looking for an acne treatment. You can buy this over at Citrus Clear for $12.99 (29ml).

Disclaimer: Even though this product was sent to me for consideration, but my review is based on my own honest opinion and experience. I do not gain any monetary compensation for this review. This post reflects my own opinion and is based on my own experience. Please do a test patch before trying on any skincare product to see if you have any skin sensitivity/allergies towards the product. Different people react differently on a product. What works for me, might not work for you. I shall not be held responsible should any negative reactions occur to you.
Hello readers! It’s been a while, eh? I have gotten over my jet lag, snow storm, and flu. It was quite a tough week to handle since I was feeling super weak! Anyways, have you guys been following my Instagram? If you haven’t please do follow me there to get in touch or to stay updated with my daily antics. If you have, you’re awesome! Anyways, if you are on my Instagram, you’d know that I’ve tried out a new face mask by MaskerAide recently. I’d like to thank Obsessed Canada (division of Nail Polish Canada) for sending me these awesome facial masks for me to try on.
I received 3 MaskerAide facial sheet masks to try on (you can see all 3 on my Instagram account), but I wanted to share with you guys my review on the Beauty Restore Hydrating Facial Sheet Mask by Masker Aide. I’ll do the other masks review soon since each mask has a different function, so I want to review it separately.
Anyways, let me talk about the mask a bit more!
What is Beauty Restore Hydrating Facial Sheet Mask?
Everyday your skin loses essential moisture and nutrients. While you prepare for your beauty sleep, our super hydrating BEAUTY REST’ORE formula (infused with Argan Oil, Super Fruit Extracts, Green Algae and Vitamin E) goes to work to restore, regenerate and repair your skin leaving it silky, smooth and supple by morning. The cooling effect of the mask helps to relax facial muscles easing the signs of stress and fatigue, while natural Lavender Oil relaxes your body and mind. Sweet dreams!
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
1. To prepare face for your at home facial, start by cleansing and toning your skin.
2. Tear open packet. Gently unfold mask and place on face. Adjust over eyes, nose and mouth for a perfect fit. Rub any excess serum into neck and chest.
3. Relax for 10-20 minutes. Remove mask and discard. Gently pat moisture into skin or give a quick rinse and lightly pat dry.
4. Use once per week. Can be used daily.
Obsessed Canada, 2015
Ok, so if you don’t know what a facial sheet mask is, it is basically a mask. Usually, a face mask is like one of those gel-like or mud-like product where you slap on your face, let it on for a few minutes or until it dries, and you rinse your face afterwards. That’s like the traditional masks, for example the Glam Glow Mud Mask, one I’ve reviewed before.
A facial sheet mask comes with a sheet of mask. This sheet of mask is soaked in the skincare product that it comes with, in this case, a hydrating serum – Vit. E, Argan oil etc. You leave in on your face for 10-20 minutes and then discard the mask afterwards. There isn’t a need to rinse if you don’t want to. You can use it daily or once a week. Facial sheet masks are pretty much a concentrated version of night cream.
Facial sheet masks are very popular in Asia, especially Korea and Japan. I usually use SK II face masks, it was especially helpful during long flights from CGK-YYZ (or vice versa). It gives my skin the extra moisture I need when the humidity is low.
Facial sheet masks are usually used at night after your nightly skincare routine. I’m not sure if you use it before or after your night cream, since I don’t use any. I do use it after my skincare regime (wash, tone, moisturize). After the 20-minute is up, I just rub any excess serum on to my skin and go to bed. For this review, I did it during the day since I need the day light for pictures. I prefer doing the mask after moisturizer since I usually discard the sheet and go to bed, but I think you can do it before your moisturizer too if you want.
- Extra moisture for the dry parched skin
- Effect can be seen immediately (look at before and after pictures below)
- Skin feels plump, moistened, and look dewy
- Smells great!
- Excess serum can be used on neck and decolletage
- Affordable – CA $6/each (compared to SK II – CA $168/10 masks)
- Not for those with oily skin, especially in humid countries (i.e. Indonesia)
- Face mask was too big for my face – certain areas of my face didn’t get covered properly
- Excessive serum can get drippy and messy
Disclaimer: The Beauty Restore Hydrating facial sheet mask by MaskerAide was sent to me by Obsessed Canada. However, my review is based purely out of my own opinion. I do not earn any money nor credits if you click on the Obsessed Canada and Nail Polish Canada links.
This week started out with a GlamGlow Super Mud review post since I’ve been holding in back last week! I was going to post it on the weekend, but I was invited to join GlamGlow Power Mud product launch, so I decided to compile everything for today’s post. If you followed me on Instagram (if you haven’t please do!), you’d noticed that I’ve posted a few photos regarding the mask and the event. I’ll post more photos from the event on Instagram, so please do follow me there!
Everyone knows about GlamGlow right? The masks that took Hollywood by storm, the masks that everyone talks about, THE MUD MASK that’s in everyone’s wish list! Finally, I decided to BUY it last week and gave it a try. I was having issues with breakouts and clogged pores, so I decided to grab the GlamGlow SuperMud.
Let’s unbox the SuperMud together! Photo below as reference.
- So the SuperMud came in a beautiful white box.

Impression and Verdict
So, I’ve only tried this mask once as an overall mask, and once as a spot treatment. Both times, I loved it! The mask has a minty smell to it, it doesn’t really give much sensation when you apply it all over your face. I applied my mask using a clean foundation brush, you can use your finger if you want.
The mask is of a dark grey color when it’s wet (you can see it on the side of my nose), and when it dries, it hardens and turns into a light grey color. If you notice my nose area, you’ll see there’s a few spots, that’s all oil. Yep, I’ve oily nose, and those oil started to secrete onto my skin when the mask was drying out. The oil was absorbed by the mask.
After leaving the mask on my skin for 10-minute, I went to wash my face, then continued with my normal skincare routine. My face felt fresh, a little bit tight, but my skin looks a bit brighter than before. My sis even commented how good my skin looks the day AFTER, even though she didn’t know I’ve tried the mask. She said my skin looks smoother than before. So, YAY!
I think the biggest difference before and after the mask is my pores. It doesn’t feel clogged anymore. I felt cleaner, fresher, and definitely feel my skin looks brighter. I have yet to notice any big difference in my skin yet, but that’s probably I’ve only tried this product once. When doing the spot treatment, I left the mask on my zits and leave it overnight. The next morning I noticed the swelling has reduced.
I definitely would buy this mask again, and probably would try their other masks! This mask is great for weekly treatment. The price is a bit steep though. For a jar (1.7 oz) it costs IDR 780K in Sephora Jakarta, and CAD$76 (before tax) in Canada. It’s a luxury item, not a must have.
If you live in Indonesia, you can grab the GlamGlow mud masks at Sephora Indonesia or Glam Glow Studio both located in Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta. If you do go to the Glam Glow Studio, you can ask them to let you try the mask first!
Anyways, so on Saturday I went to the product launch event along with fellow Clozette Ambassadors and bloggers. There, we were given a chance to try out the PowerMud mask. I didn’t give it a try since I was in a rush for another appointment, but I did take a lot of photos with the other bloggers! So, please do go over to my Instagram to check them out!
The POWERMUD mask is a mask I wished I had bought earlier! I wished this mask was there when I bought the SuperMud. Nothing wrong with the SuperMud, but the PowerMud is infused with cleansing oil. This mud mask is meant to be used after you remove your makeup. It also contained exfoliators and astringents which help to deep clean your skin! I do love the SuperMud, but I feel like the SuperMud would be an excellent mask to deep cleanse the skin weekly to remove makeup build up.
I did open up the tester jar for the PowerMud and it smells amazing! Smells like apples or pears, can’t really quite put my finger on the smell, but smells so good! It also has bits of scrubs which will help to exfoliate your skin. I received 5 sample size PowerMud, and can’t wait to give it a try!
Again, don’t forget to sign up at Clozette Indonesia, and if you become Clozette Ambassadors, you might just see us on the next event! Can’t wait to see everyone again!
For today’s post, I want to introduce a product by Sato Pharmaceutical company called Hakubi White C gel – Suplemen Pemutih Kulit, which is now available in Indonesia! Curious about this product? Read more about it below!
What is Hakubi White C gel?
- Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a concentrated Vitamin C derivative that is easily absorbed into the skin, to help prevent spots and freckles caused by sunburn.
- Helps to sooth sunburn.
- Non-greasy, non-sticky gel with a smooth after-touch.
- Can also be used to spot-treat pimples and acne
Active Ingredients: Water, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Disodium EDTA, Panthenol, Potassium Hydroxide, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Stearoxy Ether, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Xanthan Gum, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Methylparaben, Flavouring, Sodium Hyaluronate, Propylparaben
So, this Hakubi White C gel uses Vitamin C to prevent sun damage on your skin. Also, if you don’t already know, Vitamin C is known to lighten skin colour by increasing the level of glutathione on the body (Johnston et al, 1993). The Hakubi White C Gel is a product to help brighten your skin.
The product itself comes in a squeeze bottle, with a small tip. When you squeeze the bottle, a clear transparent gel will come out. The gel is slightly runnier than I expected, and it reminds me of those aloe-vera sunburn gel. I find that this product is somewhat sticky on the skin if you apply too much. However, other than that, it goes on smoothly on the skin.
You can find Hakubi White C Gel along with any other Hakubi products in Guardian, Watson, and Century outlets throughout Indonesia.
I’m back with a new post ya’ll! Today is my Bioderma Sensibio H2O review! Apologies for the late update, been super duper busy with work, and my health condition wasn’t at its best. However, if you have followed me on Instagram, you would have known that I was recently featured on a talkshow called Ping Me at RTV in Indonesia. Just a small segment, but it was a pretty cool experience. Photos are over on my Instagram!
Anyways, let’s get back on today’s topic: Best makeup remover ever! If you have not heard of this makeup remover, shame on you! Let’s take a look at the before and after photos below shall we?
- On the left, my face was filled with makeup products from my “Dr. Who the Waters of Mars” makeup tutorial.
- I have foundation on, eyeshadows, eyeliner, and face paint.
- On the right, my face after I removed all the makeup using Bioderma Sensibio H2O makeup remover.
- 2 cotton pads somewhat half-soaked in the makeup remover.
So, I’ve used Bioderma since 2010, and when I returned to Indonesia in 2012, I couldn’t find any. However, in 2013, Bioderma entered the Indonesian market, and I was thrilled! I was even more excited this year when Bioderma’s Brand Manager and Marketing Director invited me for a coffee break last month! Amazing! So awesome to have meet both of them, and they were so kind as to give me their 2 best-sellers! Thank you and thank you and thank you Bioderma Indonesia!
Let’s get back on track a little, shall we? What exactly is Bioderma?
” The Laboratoire Dermatologique BIODERMA, based in Lyon, France, develops and markets, in close collaboration with dermatologists and renowned institutional research centers (CNRS. INSERM, CHU, Universities,…), dermo-cosmetic products intended for medical prescription and medicinal consultancy.
BIODERMA is among the most frequently prescribed laboratories by French dermatologists. Present in more than 70 countries, BIODERMA is growing very fast at international level. (…)
Bioderma’s reserach is performed by a team of highly qualified scientists and extremely reputable operators. (…) These works gave birth to numerous innovations which since became references:
- The 1st non detergent shampoo : NodéFluid.
- The 1st cleansing waters : the micellar solutions Sensibio H2O and Sébium H2O.
- The 1st biologically-active sunscreen ingredient that counters the long-term damaging effects of UV exposure : Photoderm and the patent Cellular BIOprotection®.
- The 1st skincare product that corrects the quality of sebum : Sébium AKN and its patented ingredient, Fluidactiv®.
- The first skincare who acts directly on the main cause of skin redness : Sensibio AR and its patent Rosactiv®. “
As you all can see, Bioderma is the pioneer in creating “Cleansing Water”. The micellar technology comes from Bioderma, and they are still the best at it. I’ve tried other micellar-based makeup remover, but none of them are as superior as Bioderma’s.
What is a micellar technology?
(…) Micelles (…) effectively micro-emulsify impurities while maintaining the skin’s balance (soap-free, physiological pH).
So there’s 2 actions in the Micellar technology:
- Break down impurities
- Restore skin to its optimal condition
This makeup remover has these tiny molecules called Micelles. What micelles do is to break down any impurities (dirt, oil, makeup etc) as soon as it touches your skin. However, instead of breaking down your skin cells along with all these impurities, it detects and recognizes your skin cells. The micelles molecules will then restore your skin’s condition to its optimum balance.
Isn’t Science amazing?! Awesome!
So, I was given 2 products – the Sensibio H2O and the Sebium H2O. I’ve only been using the Sensibio H2O, so I cannot say much about the Sebium. However, I’d have think that the Sebium would give similar result to the Sensibio.
There’s 2 main difference between the Sensibio and the Sebium:
- The Sensibio is catered towards sensitive skin, while the Sebium is for oily skin.
- The Sebium cannot be used in the eyes and lips area while the Sensibio can be used in those areas.
- The reason why the Sebium cannot be used in the eyes and lips area is because those areas are more sensitive. Since the Sebium is made for oily skin, it’ll absorb excess oil on the skin. However, since the eye and lip areas aren’t as oily as the skin, using the Sebium in those areas might cause it to be dried out and thus irritated.
- Please do avoid using the Sebium on the eye and lip areas.
Below is a list of pros and cons for Bioderma Sensibio H2O
- Removes makeup without the need to rinse.
- Will remove even the hardest waterproof mascara and eyeliner.
- Soaked the remover on a cotton pad, leave it on eyes for 3-5 minutes and wipe away.
- Suitable for every skin type.
- Does not dry out skin.
- Does not leave any weird sticky or oily residue on skin.
- Does not irritate the skin and eyes.
- PERFECT to clean up the edges of your WINGED LINER.
- Fast and quick makeup removal, especially for makeup changes.
- Removing mascara and eyeliner might take a few minutes for the remover to break it down. I prefer using Shu Uemura cleansing oil for this instead, since I always rinse my face after removing my makeup anyways.
For today’s post, I wanted to do Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water review since I’ve received this product for a while now, but didn’t get the chance to review it. I want to thank mbak Hani from Prodigy for sending this product to me! So, very kind of you! I do apologize for taking a while before posting this review.
I’m sure most of you know that blogging isn’t my full-time job, since I do have an obligation in helping out in my parents’ business, I have not been updating my blog regularly. I do try to update it twice a week, so please do SUBSCRIBE to my blog by simply entering your email address on the SUBSCRIPTION BOX (right side-bar). I promise I do no such thing like spamming! All you’ll get on your inbox is a notification that I’ve updated my blog! If you want to find out what I’m up to on a daily basis, go check out my Instagram to satisfy your curiosity!
So, let’s get on the review!
Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water is a makeup remover that uses Micellar water technology, instead of the usual oil/water combination that most makeup remover has. Ok, so I tried looking up for a definition of this product on maybelline website but it provides none, also I didn’t get the chance to go to Maybelline’s product launching event since I had prior arrangement to go to Tex Saverio’s trunk show. So whatever I write on this post is purely out of my own knowledge, and honest opinion.
Anyways, let’s get back on the review! So, my first impression when I received this product is – WOAH! A dupe for Bioderma Sensibio H2O makeup remover! To be honest, I have high regards for Bioderma Sensibio H2O makeup remover since I’ve used it back in 2012. So, I have really high expectation for Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water, since it uses the same technology as Bioderma.
(psst, I’m going to post a review for Bioderma makeup remover next week, so check back soon!)
On the picture above, I removed the makeup on one side of my face using a cotton pad soaked in Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water. I used just ONE cotton pad to remove my foundation, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick etc. I used Kat Von D Tooper eyeliner and Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash mascara, which are known to be waterproof, and hard to be removed.
If you see closely on my lashes on the side with makeup removed (left), you can still see traces of mascara and eyeliner on my eye. I actually left the soaked cotton pad on my eye for a good 3-5 minutes before removing the eyeliner and mascara.
Also, when I removed my makeup using the Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water, I felt that it left a bit of a residue on my skin which makes my skin feel a little bit sticky.
Oh, when I wake up the next morning, some of the mascara that did not get removed had smeared down to my lower lid! I did not wash my face after using the Miracle Water since I want to test this product to its fullest (the things i’ll do for reviews!).
- Dupe for Bioderma Sensibio H20
- Does not contain any oil, so it does not leave any oily residue on the skin
- Great for quick makeup removal
- Does not break down some waterproof mascara and eyeliner
- Skin feels sticky after usage
- Have to wash face afterwards to make sure there is no more traces of makeup
I was asked over on the Indonesian Beauty Bloggers facebook page to share about my skincare routine. I am, of course, pretty shocked since I don’t have the best skin. I mean, like, my skin is super flawed and I do wished I had taken better care of my skin when I was younger. Lucky for me, my mom was always there to constantly remind me to go for facials, see dermatologist, wash my face etc.
Even though currently my skin looks pretty OK, I had to go through my teenage years with acne. Anyways, throughout the course of my life, I’ve tried several different brands at different stage of my life, some works and others made it worse.
My skin type is combination. A really weird type of combination. In Asia, my t-zone is dry and cheeks are oily. In Canada, my nose is oily and everything else is dry. Weird, right?!
Currently, I’ve been using the Clinique 3-step system for just a little bit less than a year now and I’m loving it! Below is what I’m using at the moment:
Daily 2x/day (+after makeup removal)
- Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild
- Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2
- Clinique Dramatically Moisturizing Gel
I started off washing my face with the soap, and then clean up my skin using the clarifying lotion. I applied the moisturizer, 2 pumps, all over my face. In the winter (like right now), I usually layer another pump of moisturizer after the first layer dries off.
Guys, if you’re like me (combination skin in a dry cold winter weather), then the layering step is important to moisturize your skin. I was given the Clinique Dramatically Moisturizing LOTION, within the first week my skin broke out because the cream was too rich.
If you have combination/oily skin, then go for the GEL. It’s lighter and it really does wonder. I was told by family and friends that they noticed my skin looks better and more supple within a week of using the 3-step system. I re-started using the 3-step system when I was in Jakarta, and continued using it while I’m in Canada. This is the only skincare system that works really well in 2 different climate – hot/humid and dry/cold.
Once a week
- Clinique 7-day Scrub Cream Rinse-off Formula, OR
- Clarisonic MIA + Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild
I usually use the Clarisonic MIA + Soap combo once a week to clear out my pores and exfoliates my skin. However, when I forgot to charge my Clarisonic MIA, I usually use my 7-day scrub cream. Once a week is more than enough, especially when I can feel my face is clogged up.
Usually in Jakarta, my mom takes me and my sister out for facial. However, I don’t have that luxury in Canada (so expensive compared to Jakarta). So, the Clarisonic or the scrub is more than sufficient to clear out my clogged pores.
- Bioderma crealine h20, and/OR
- Coconut Oil
To remove my eye makeup, I usually used the Bioderma. However, I’ve ran out of the makeup remover just recently, and since I’ve been using coconut oil for hair mask, I decided to use it to remove my makeup as well. I just rub the coconut oil all over my eyes and face, and then removed it with damped face cloth.
After I removed my makeup, then I’ll wash my face using the Clinique Facial Soap TWICE. The first wash is to remove the oil and the remaining makeup residue, while the second wash actually cleans the skin. Then I proceed with the clarifying lotion, and 2 layers of the moisturizing gel.
I also drink A LOT of water to ensure that my skin is not dehydrated. Sometimes, just by drinking a lot of water, you’ll notice a huge difference in your skin. Remember, lots of water is good for you! I keep 2 500-ml water bottles, and 1 1-L water bottle at home. I made sure I drank 2L water everyday.
Let me just mention that it has taken me so many years, a lot of trials/errors to find the one skincare system that actually works for me right now. Please keep in mind that everyone’s skin is different, and what might work for me might not work for someone else.
