Product Review – Cover FX Liquid Foundation
I bought the Cover fx liquid foundation from Shopper’s last weekend. Complections (my current makeup sch) gave a lot of cover fx cream foundations for us in our makeup kit, and I quite like the coverage that it gives, but I wanted something easier to use on myself. So, I bought the liquid foundation. Cover fx (also known as natural fx) liquid foundation is water-based foundation for all skin-type incl. sensitive skin.
So this is what they claimed from their website:
WHAT DOES IT DO?
- 2-in-1 Concealer + Foundation
- Dermatologist 1st choice for flawless looking skin
- Available in over 20 global shades
COVERAGE
- Provides moderate coverage of skin imperfections such as acne, redness, under eye circles, uneven skin tones, post-surgical bruising, vitiligo, and tattoos
- Creates a hydrated, natural, dewy looking finish
SKIN TYPE
- All skin types.
- Sensitive skin

Verdict:
1. You have to shake the tube really well otherwise there’ll be liquid (I’m guessing water) coming out as you squeeze the tube. So SHAKE IT WELL (as it says on the instructions)
2. I didn’t apply it with any brushes, I used my fingers to apply it all over my face. I think the warmth of my fingertips actually help the product to spread better. I will not use my fingers on my client’s face, I always use a foundation brush or sponge on clients.
3. I found that it provides a reaaally2 good coverage. I have some redness and breakouts here and there around my face, so I find that I don’t even need a concealer to cover the problematic areas. It covers my under eye circles pretty well too.
4. It matches my skin colour perfectly! I’m an M50 if anyone is interested. (For MAC I’m either a NC 27 OR NC 30; for Laura Mercier I’m a cashew beige; Smashbox HD I’m a light 4).
To sum it all, this is by far one of my fav. foundations! =D..If you think the coverage is too much, you can sheer it out by applying it with a damped sponge. If you think there isn’t enough coverage (I doubt it), you can build it up or use the cream foundation.
Cover fx also carries mineral foundations which are good for those of you who have clear skin or sensitive skin. I have not used the mineral foundation yet, but my best friend used it and she loooves it. So, if any1 gives it a try, give me a shout out! =)
Enjoy the before and after pictures. There’s nothing on except for foundation on the after picture.

Great review, I LOVE CoverFx’s cream foundation. But I do find them to be abit too much coverage for all over the face great as concealer though plus it has spf *yey*
I have used coverfx and found it to be giving me the sense of wearing a mask. I have rosacea especially on the cheeks.
I did use my fingertips and not the brush, maybe I had too thick. My question is . How do you wash it off. is there something special for the removal? my skin is very sensitive. Thank you. Hope to have a response.
Hi, I have tried the coverfx foundation a few months ago. I found it hard to spread,I didn’t use the brush. Would that
have made a difference? I have rosacea on my cheeks
especially and I was hoping that would work for me. My
skin is very sensitive to new products. What is used to wash coverfx off? Is there anything special.
Thank you .Waiting for an answer.
Hi Bernadette
Which coverfx foundation did you use? For myself, I’m using the liquid foundation and it works just like other liquid foundation. As a makeup artist, however, I used the cream foundation on my clients sometimes (esp. for those with sensitive skin).
If you are using the cream foundation, you might want to consider buying a palette and a spatula. I took a tiny bit of the coverfx cream foundation and spread it on the palette. By doing so, I’m warming up the foundation, which makes it easier to work with.
You don’t have to use a brush for either liquid or cream. If you’re not used using a brush, I suggest using wedge sponges or sea sponge (the yellow porous ones). Wet it with water and squeeze excess water. Make the sponge to be damp (not wet) and take a little product with the sponge and apply it to your skin. For areas that need more coverage, stipple the sponge over it.
You might also want to consider getting the coverfx primer to protect your skin (since you said you’ve sensitive skin). The primer makes the application of the foundation smoother as well.
I’m using Shu Uemura’s cleansing oil to take off my makeup. It’s quite pricy, but it’s a huge bottle. Other than that, I used baby oil to remove my eye makeup. It might sound weird, but oil helps to remove makeup and cleanse your skin without striping the natural oil of the face. I heard some people even use olive oil to remove makeup. I’m just using baby oil for my eyes because our eyes are one of the most sensitive part of the face. I always say to my friends “whatever is good for the baby, it’s good for you” =D
Hope that helps!
