Shelf Life of Cosmetic Products

Beauty lovers! How’re you guys doing? I will be kept busy with midterms this week.Anyhow, if any of you who live in GTA, Hamilton, Burlington, St. Catharine and nearby area are interested in getting a makeup service for Christmas, I’ll be able to do it for you. Please call or email me to book for appointment.

So, let’s talk about shelf lives of your products. I’ve seen too many people who kept and USED expired products (!!!). DON’T do it! Throw away expired products! Using expired products is like eating expired food. They will poison your face. Germs and bacteria are breeding on your expired products, don’t use them all over your face.

Foundation: 12-18mths.

Eyeliner/Eyeshadow: 3 years. Sharpen pencil eyeliner before use.

Mascara: 3-6mths depending on the brand. When mascara starts to get clumpy and dry, throw them away even if it’s not 3-6mths yet.

Lipstick: 1-2years. If it starts to smell weird and texture changes, throw them out.

Powder/blush/highlighter: 2-3 years.

Store your products in a dry place and away from the sunlight. Don’t pump air into your mascara, do not share your mascara and lipstick with others, always clean your brushes. This will ensure clean and hygienic products and reduce the risk of infections.
